View Full Version : Freezing when saving campaign probably caused by PFRPG - Bestiary - Linked module

I had the problem of FG freezing whenever it saved the campaign data - a known problem from what I've seen in previous threads. The problem was due to saving since I could replicate it by typing /save on chat. Saving times varied from 2.5s to 5s depending on I have no idea what.

My campaign file was pretty small (I think?) with the campaign folder at ~90 MB and db.xml at 1.1 MB. However the PFRPG - Bestiary - Linked in moduledb had grown to 56.9 MB - not sure why and how since I had not modified many NPCs and the module itself is 4.8MB. Once I removed it saving times dropped to 0.3s.

Probably irrelevant but I am using a Macbook Air M2, 16GB RAM with more than 200GB of free space on disk.

Anyway, I solved the issue by removing the PFRPG - Bestiary - Linked file in moduledb but I am still curious about why it happened and how to avoid it happening again.

Did you make a copy of the file from the moduledb directory? We'd need to see that to work out what was causing it.

Although it could be related to this: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?80109-Help-!-Every-time-I-load-my-campaign-its-adding-extra-quot-dmg-dice-quot

You are probably right that is related to what mentioned in the other thread, I had a quick look at the file and it looks like it mostly (maybe exclusively) consists of the lines

<bonus type="number">0</bonus>
<dice type="dice"></dice>
<dicestatmax type="number">0</dicestatmax>
<statmax type="number">0</statmax>

repeated multiple times with various ids. Anyway here is a dropbox link of the file.

You can pretty much delete that file, the issue is being caused by what's detailed in the thread. There may have been some changes you made to the base creatures also in there, but it's probably more hassle to try to work it all out.

Deleting the file is no problem. I don't fully understand what is written in the other thread, but essentially copying NPCs from AP modules before modifying them is the only thing I can do, the bug is been investigated, and meanwhile if the problem happens again I should redelete the file?

Pretty much. :)
