**Fantasy Grounds Image Size and Usage Guide**

Developing or using images for Fantasy Grounds requires attention to detail to ensure an optimal experience:

(Maps, Tokens, Portraits, Full length images, handouts, and map assets all add up rather quickly over time.)

Standard Definition 480p (640x480) is best for basic images, icons, and tokens, optimizing for small, non-detailed graphics to keep file sizes low and performance high.

High Definition 720p (1280x720) is suitable for basic handouts, simple maps, and temporary visual aids, ensuring quick load times and broad compatibility.

Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) is ideal for detailed handouts, complex artwork, and VTT battle maps, offering a balance between complexity and performance.

Quad HD 1440p (2560x1440) is best for high-quality maps and detailed VTT wilderness maps, providing a balance between detail and file size.

WQXGA 1600p (2560x1600) is used for content requiring additional vertical space, perfect for an expanded field of view in gameplay.

4K UHD (3840x2160) is the upper limit for resolution, used only when the highest detail level is necessary.

To manage file sizes effectively:

1. Convert images to 75% quality WebP format to help reduce storage space and volume. WebP offers excellent compression and significantly reduces file sizes compared to PNG and JPG without sacrificing quality.

2. Reduce the total number of images in any given campaign folder. Aim for a few, ideally less than a dozen images at a time, to reduce indexing and memory limitations.

3. Follow the image size guidelines provided on the official Fantasy Grounds Atlassian page. Smiteworks' recommendations are designed to enhance the user experience and retain decent quality for gameplay.

**Disclaimer**: This guide is for general reference. Higher resolutions may affect performance, lag, and bandwidth. Prioritize user experience and try to test out your images within the Fantasy Grounds environment.

For complete guidelines, refer to the official Fantasy Grounds Developer Guide available at https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/2037547009/Developer+Guidelines.

Happy Gaming!
