I discovered an issue with the Abishai stat blocks from the 5E module Monsters of the Multiverse. According to the book they should all have Devil's Sight.

Indeed. They were removed. They aren't needed any more. Originally archetypes were tied into the classes and so they couldn't stand on their own. This meant that any book which had archetypes needed the class in order to function. This lead to multiple duplicates of each class. A few patches back, however, archetypes got their own window class and so could stand alone without the actual class.

The removal of the classes has no effect on character creation as long as you have the PHB and any books (such as Xanathar and Tasha) that contain archetypes open. When you reach the appropriate level you'll be offered the choice of archetype from all the open modules that contain archetypes; and, as a bonus, you won't have half a dozen copies of the same class cluttering up your class lists.

Spellcaster class (follower) from Tasha's doesn't have access to spells in Char Gen. Is this intended? Also skill creation is problematic.
No extensions, fresh campaign.

The character wizard pulls from spell lists within the campaign. So a spell list would need to be made for that class.

Ah, got it. So it is intended. I couldn't find the place to prepare a spell list for it but drag and drop works, too.

EDIT: Nvm, I just found it. It is a new addition i guess. I will poke around a bit to learn. Thanks.
Anyone who wonders how, check the attachment. (Name the Definition as "Spellcaster")

Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus - NPC - Feonor - Spell save DC shows as 15 and should be 17 (8 + 5(INT) + 4(PB) = 17 verified on D&D Beyond.

It could also use a slightly cleaned up transparent background image like this (.png as forum won't handle .webp):

The Innate spellcasting is something I added so that the spells would appear in the CT, otherwise they wouldn't appear. I've clearly just miscalculated the Spell save DC. I'll add this and the image to my fix list.

I think the AC is reversed as well... It shows 15 (12 with mage armor).

Yeah, it should read 12 without mage armor. Again I changed this from how the book reads (which is 12 (15 with mage armor)); since it also says that the archmage starts with mage armor cast; so it seemed reasonable to make the AC 15 instead of 12.

I'll note to change the wording so it makes sense.

The Barbarian Path of the Beast adds a 1d8 bonus to your AC in certain situations. I think that an effect such as AC: 1d8 that expires on next roll should work. It is expiring as expected. However, it seems like it is not giving a bonus to AC.

The AC effect only accepts numbers as parameters not dice strings. So AC: 2 will work but AC: 1d4 will not. Hi there,

Tales of the Valiant extension (Kobold Press, just released today)
1. Inspiration was renamed to Luck but there are still only options for 1, 2 or 3 checkoff boxes; ToV requires 5.
2. The Character Wizard doesn't show any options from ToV, though character building is still possible using drag and drop.
3. Race is renamed to Lineage but there is no place that shows Heritage on the character sheet, and no Heritages to drag and drop. It doesn't look like Heritage was implemented at all.

Heritages are part of the Lineages Tab.

Hi, I've been running the Planescape: A Turn of Fortune's Wheel module for a couple of different groups. I've run into a few errors over time, which I've reported in the past. Most recently I started the module with a new group and found the map to the Walking Tower, Idecaru, has no pins in the map. So I end up having to hunt down each encounter in order to set it up. Any help you could provide on this would be appreciated.

Necropolis, "VTT - Chapel of the Sun", The inside is completely cut off from the outside. I realize the map adopter just followed the lines, but it doesn't match the description of a gate and archway leading to the internal locations.

In the Book Reference, under Chapter 08 - Rahotep's Tomb, page: Tracking Character Benefits...
There is a link to a page titled "F.001 Character Tracking Sheet",
there are two links on this page: "Image: Nine evil objects", and "Image: character tracking sheet" which actually link to "GM - The Pool of Hapy Environs" and "GM - general area of the gorge of osiris" respectively. And this is not the same page you find if you scroll all the way down to Appendix F.



Finally fixed. sorry for the long wait, I've been rather busy. I fixed the map by leaving a path open. the contour can be assumed to be overhanging the open path.

Fix the links to show the proper images.

It's best to report DLC issues in the bug report threads as we have developers monitor here. I will have a look at this and see what that is the case.

Candlekeep Mysteries. Item "Ioun Stone (Awareness)" When you click on the Image link in the description. It doesn't open the image. In the chat box you get
"Attempt to open wildcard links(s) that do not match any loaded module date. Check your active Library modules.
(reference.imagedata.img_ioun_stones_jpg@*)"
If you open the image for the same item in the 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide then it does open the Ioun Stone image correctly from the image link.
This is also true for the Ring of the Ram and maybe other items.

I'll have a look at that. The reason why the Innate spellcasting doesn't include the bracketed text is that FG wouldn't print that out and ended the spell list after shapechange. However that may have been improved upon since the module was developed so it may now be possible to add that in.

I've noted the typos for fixing.

Thanks for the report. There's a few things that'll need fixing since the references to the images and links to spells etc are now incorrect since the module was created.

Thank you for reporting this. Apparently there was an issue with the parsing mechanism that prevented most NPCs with negative ability modifiers from having an ability score in the stats. I went through all the creatures and fixed them. I checked it in as a hotfix so the fix should go live quicker than with the normal method.

Possible spoiler for ToA!

On "Player Map - Rotten Halls" there is a corridor with a wind tunnel trap. The propeller is created as a window collider, but it is just a single line. This prevented me from opening the window so my players could walk through (after defeating the trap):

In another place the entrance to Moa's Tomb there is a big skull. The description says people can see through the open jaws, but the map is created with a wall collider. I think changing it to a window, or maybe a door would make more sense. I would prefer a window. The only time you can't see through would be when a creature is in its jaws:

Easy enough to work around, but for anyone playing this in the future I think changing it would be beneficial.

Many of these older settings and adventure maps were done by volunteers and when Fantasy Grounds Unity was new.
They should should be fixed, absolutely.

However, how the maps are interpreted and or some detail of certain parts are missed from time to time, and especially can be found in the older content.

The fixes you propose sound reasonable.

Thanks, I'll take a note to fix that. I don't think windows had an option to have them be toggleable when the LoS was drawn for that module.

Quests from the Infinite Staircase, The Lost City, encounter B53: the doppelganger here is impersonating a human, but the NPC link provided (named Kastrith) has a doppelganger token and portrait which ruins the deception. Similarly, in encounter B55 the were rats who are "in humanoid form and pretend to be citizens" have wererat tokens.
And room b56 with disguised jackalweres revealed by having the wrong token! It looks like this whole dungeon level has a "impersonation" theme, which the FG developer missed. There may be others.

FIX: read the encounters and replace tokens that would give away the secret.

Indeed. But I don't think there's an image provided for that character that I could generate a token from. I could give them a generic letter token; but you can easily change the token yourself to one that you may have that's a better fit.

Yes, I think letter tokens would be better here. It's an easy thing for a GM to miss even when reading ahead, because they might not open the Encounter Link until during play.

In the module D&D Vecna: Eve of Ruin, open the book and go in Appendix B - Character Dossier: Acererak's picture is missing from his page. The picture itself is present in the Images window, so I guess it's just a broken link/typo in the book.
Same for Tiamat.

Also, another picture is missing from the bottom of the page of the dossier about Miska the Wilf-Spider

In the module D&D Vecna: Eve of Ruin, open the book and go in Appendix B - Character Dossier: Acererak's picture is missing from his page. The picture itself is present in the Images window, so I guess it's just a broken link/typo in the book.
Same for Tiamat.

Also, another picture is missing from the bottom of the page of the dossier about Miska the Wilf-Spider

So does Photoshop most of the time. Probably would have been easier in some of these cases to go back to the original image rather than trying to remove the backgrounds from the existing ones. The irony of this is that most of the original images had no background and a lot of time was spent adding one in for the original module.

I noticed that the Jewel Crab, from Legendary Games' Sea Monsters, is missing an action. In the book, its actions are Multiattack, Claw, and Resin Strand; in FG, it's just Multiattack and Claw, though Multiattack mentions the Resin Strand action. Looking at the PDF, the Resin Strand action is on the next page, which is probably how it got missed.

FWIW, the missing action:
"Resin Strand. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: A Large or smaller creature hit must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or become grappled by the jewel crab (escape DC 15), with the grapple ending automatically if the target is moved further than 30 ft. away from the jewel crab. I also noticed that all of the NPCs (at least the ones I checked, which was a dozen or more) from Nord Games' Ultimate NPCs: Skulduggery have the wrong Challenge ratings. For example, the Basic Brigand is listed as Challenge 2; it's actually 1/8. Similarly, the Average Brigand is listed as Challenge 2, but should be 1/4; the Advanced Bandit Boss is listed as Challenge 20 (!), but should be 9.

What appears to have happened is that it's using the NPC's number of hit dice as the challenge rating, which is incorrect both systematically and according to the book. This seems to be causing the saves, skills, attack rolls, etc. to be incorrect, as the proficiency bonus is usually too high (though I'm not sure if that's due to automation or something else).

Edit: upon further review, the stat blocks are just very frequently wrong in many ways. For example, the Average Bandit has 7d10 for hit dice; it should be 5d8. The Advanced Bandit Boss has 20d10 for hit dice, and should be 22d8. The Skilled Bandit is missing the versatile damage for its longsword attack, and has the wrong attack bonus and damage for its Heavy Crossbow attack.

The feats are hard-coded to apply the adjustments specified in the books, based on the feat name. According to both the 2024 and Legacy versions of the PHB, the feat gives an Ability Score increase. See attached images.

If you want to override with a different version of the feat, you'll need to create a custom Feat record with a different name.

For the class if you are using the 2014 rules then the wording for skill choice is 'Choose two from xxxx, xxxx, xxxx'. It looks like you have different wording and have inserted a colon. For the 2024 rules then use 'Choose 2: xxxx, xxxx, xxxx"

It seems that some of the Professor Skant information is missing. It should be in Appendix D, however there is nothing in Appendix D about Professor Skant (just a link to the Professor Orb item). The Professor Skant entry in Appendix D has a description along with a list of areas of expertise. There is an NPC entry for Professor Skant, but it's Notes field is missing most of the relevant information. EDIT: I missed that the areas of expertise are in the NPC traits, though I think there's some argument for putting this information in the notes field as well with the relevant links (e.g. to the "Fate of Netheril" sidebar).

1) Kobolds (winged and normal) under Traits, Sunlight Sensitivity, we find "While in sunlight, the kobold has disadvan- tage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight."

It'd be good to remove the hypen and space from inside "disadvantage".

2) In the Kobold Renegades story page inside the Exploring the Island subchapter inside Chapter 1, I find "A group of kobolds tries to ambush the characters. They’re hiding in the rocks and light foliage, hoping to get the jump on the adventurers. Make a Dexterity (Stealth) check for the kobolds, rolling once for all of them and using the Dexterity modifier (+2) of the wingless kobolds. Compare the result to the characters’ passive Wisdom (Perception) scores...."

However, the wingless Kobold NPC sheet shows DEX 15 which gives a +2 mod, and the winged Kobold NPC sheet shows DEX 16 for a +3 mod. This seems to disagree with the text.

It should be without. The actual book says 12 (15 with Mage Armour) but I swapped the numbers over since it seemed more logical that a mage would have that spell active all the time and then didn't change the with to without.

Depends which one you are looking at. There's two option in the Legacy Handbook, one for the legacy class and one for the 2024 class. The latter is configured to get whatever would be obtained at levels 1-3 at level 3 in accordance with the way that the subclasses work in 2024. The Legacy version follows the legacy rules. As far as I can see the class features on the legacy subclass are given at level 2 (Bonus Cantrip and Natural Recovery). In the 2024 version those two features are correctly moved to be given at level 3 since you can't get a subclass before that level in 2024 rules.

Unless you are seeing something different.

I'm not able to reproduce in a new campaign. I tried about a dozen different images from the images list as well as poke around the Book and the Assets and couldn't find anything missing.

Can you name exactly what images are missing and how you got the link to them? Do you have any extensions? Have you tried a "Revert" on the module or creating a new campaign and opening it there?

Reference Book, Introductory chapter (Danger to the Multiverse), section "Kas's Plan" subsection "Domain of Dread Parolee": in the book the image used is correct (titled Kas and the Crown of Lies), but when clicking on it instead of opening the correct image it opens the one titles "Kas Disguised as Mordenkainen".

I'm not sure that FGVTT automatically knows what ability to use for this power group so you'd need to go into the power group meta data and change the ability to Dex.

That is the result of an extension. You’ll need to disable extensions to see which one is doing it. I have heard that Requested Rolls is one extension with that problem.

Wait, sorry. Not Xanathar, it's Morderkainen Presents Monsters. Also just saw one in The Solo Adventurer's Toolbox but that's 3rd party.

Not sure if this is the right place to post about this, but I started having an issue with the Kingdoms & Warfare extension. Whenever I try to apply damage of any kind to PCs or NPCs, it doesn't work and I get the following error message:

"[ERROR] Handler error: [string "5E:scripts/manager_action_damage.lua"]:1213: attempt to index local 'tAdjResults' (a nil value)"

It's happening on all my campaigns, which only have the K&W extension enabled. Disabling the extension fixes it.
(This is in regular combat, not interacting with the K&W mechanics at all)

A few days ago it was working fine. Only noticed an issue today (03/09).

Hmm, yes I can see that. A result of removing the classes from Xanathar. I'll add them in as feats I think is the only solution.

Not a brilliant solution... this way they still wouldn't appear as options for Eldritch Invocations in the Character Wizard, and with drag and drop they would be listed under "feats" instead of "abilities" - mechanically not a big deal, but it can cause confusion among players.

Pretty sure they wouldn’t appear in the character wizard anyway, since this is legacy stuff. I’m not sure where else I can put them really.

The options from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything do appear in the character wizard, even though they are legacy stuff too. You can even mix the 2014 Player's Handbook stuff and 2024 Player's Handbook stuff in the character wizard. Legacy sources are marked with (legacy) in the character wizard, but they are accessible.
What's different between Tasha and Xanathar that made removal of the classes necessary in one but not the other?
Why not just put the classes back into Xanathar? It's clear that removing the classes causes more issues than it solves problems.

Putting stuff in Feats is simply incorrect from a 5e point of view, makes the Xanathar handbook "a special case to handle differently" compared to another legacy book (Tasha), makes it look like any character can grab one of its eldritch invocations as a feat unless they keep the book open (which people rarely do)...
It's just a headache really.

The 2024 version of the Warlock does allow for selection of Eldritch Invocations in the Character Wizard because the 2024 characters are constructed to allow feature choices for things like Eldritch Invocations, Fighting Styles, and other similar things. The Legacy characters don't have this and never did, the invocations were just a list in the Eldritch Invocation feature. So there was never a choice within the Character Wizard and selection of Eldritch Invocations was always a manual entry into the character sheet once the character was created.

Originally whenever a book had subclasses the whole class needed to be included in the book in order for the subclasses to work. This caused numerous complaints about the number of duplicate class entries if you had a lot of such books. So when things changed to allow only subclasses to be created the classes were removed from most (if not all) of the official books. Initially those classes were also removed from Tasha's as well but they had to be reinstated because they contained different feature options than the PHB did and so removing the classes broke many characters created with Tasha's. Removing the classes in Xanathar doesn't break the class since the features are the same as the PHB.

The only issue is that there is now no place to list the additional Eldritch Invocations.

...and Eldritch Invocations are a class feature, just like the class features of Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. So your whole shpiel crumbles down. Eldritch Invocations are not spells, not feats, not skills - they are a warlock's class feature, just like Tasha's Eldritch Invocations options (and, to be extra pedantic, like Maneuvers are a Battle Master Fighter's class feature). So handle them the same way, yeah?

Tl;DR: taking the decision to remove the classes from Xanathar's was poorly made without checking all the consequences it had. They should be reinstated until the devs can find a better way to handle that case.

Grottenelle Stonecutter has the image of a derro, not a svirfneblin. Also, svirfneblins have Darkvision 120 ft. and his size is small, not medium.
Makubli Khee has Darkvision 60 ft.
Torkner Ironteeth has Darkvision 120 ft.
Ker-arach: The token should match the image.

All the darkvision senses are racial traits not specifically mentioned in the module.

All other named npcs in Web's Edge also have some sort of darkvision due to their racial traits. (This mention is so that I don't have to list them all.)

P.S. According to the scenario, they are operating in complete darkness and would be unable to see unless they have darkvision. Also, be careful to include the darkvision racial traits of npcs in other parts of the module.
P.P.S. I had to completely redo the walls and doors of this dungeon to better match the map. (It's also looking like I'm having to do this for the entire module.)

All maps have grids. I tested the map and verified the tokens are snapping to the grid. The walls also appear to be as they should. What issues are you seeing with the walls. The images may not match as the product did not have complete selection of full body images for the NPCs. What you see is what I could find and closely match the NPC.

The grids must be invisible then. I tried every way for them to show (increase brightness, change color) nothing worked. Then I noticed that the grid height and width measurements were blank. I ended up having to redo them.

I'm attaching my version of the maps up through first half of chapter 3.

I was trying to manually port a character from a Roll20 game to demonstrate FG to some folks on that platform.

Roughly in order:


Create 5E Campaign, load it
Activate the Modules for the 5E Player's Handbook (Legacy), DMG (Legacy) and Xanthar's Guide to Everything
From the toolbar on the right, open Player → Characters
Click Character Wizard
On the Class tab, set Source to D&D PHB (Legacy)
Select Bard, set Level to 3
Realize the College of Creation comes from Tasha's, close campaign, purchase that module, fetch FG Updates, , reload campaign, activate the module
Click Character Wizard
On the Class tab, set Source to D&D PHB (Legacy)
Select Bard, set Level to 3
Observe College of Creation and College of Eloquence to be absent


However, attempted to repro the issue from scratch, it did not recur. Not sure what happened, but I guess never mind?

The Trinkets table is in the PHB (Legacy). So you'll need that open in order for those to work.

"The naga is initially indifferent to the characters ..."

In the encounter, the naga is marked as hostile. Probably should initially be neutral. Especially since the whole room entry only mentions options for making the naga friendly or the naga being indifferent, nothing about it turning hostile.

The encounter for the Gold Chest says Six Swarms of poisonous snakes teleport into the room.

The NPC in the encounter is just six tiny poisonous snakes, not the Medium swarm of tiny poisonous snakes.

Candlekeep Mysteries- Items. "Retribution of the Ancients"
The item has () in the rarity. so it's "(uncommon)" instead of just "uncommon". which means it makes it's own category when searching by rarity for items.

Product: Dungeon of the Mad Mage
Area: Book
Record: "Bat Cave" in chapter 4 and "Bat Cave" in Chapter 5
Issue: These are two separate areas on different levels of the dungeon, but they are currently sharing the same page, so the description for chapter 4 is missing. The correct description for the chapter 4 area is available as a basic story page and the pins on the player map correctly link to that basic story page, it's just the Book that's gotten confused.

Again this is because there are two Potion Brewery entries. The tool used to create this module was unable to handle two locations with the same name so it only registered one of them, usually the last one that was listed. So in this case 22 has the description for area 24 and area 24 is missing. thought I had caught most of these errors but clearly I didn't.

I'll get this fixed.
