View Full Version : Encounters no longer posting to CT?

First just so you know I noticed this on my last game which was 12/22, but I didn't want to use my holiday time worry about such an thing.

I surely thought by now (especially since there's been more than one update since then) Smiteworks would have addressed this, but I was wrong its still broke...which is amazing to me since its a pretty big issue.

So for years I'd build encounters by opening up the encounter parcel thing (what I call it anyway) and then I drag my NPCs into the encounters. If I want I change faction (friendly/hostile) I set the number of how many of those NPCs I want. Then I drag the NPC icons one by one to the map. Once I'm done I click the little down arrow and that adds them to the CT.

Well this doesn't work anymore. And I gotta be honest -- I hope this is a glitch or there's a new way to do this because this is very bad.

Not conducive to make encounters on the fly during a game in a fast manner. And as any of you know especially if you are the DM its always a bit awkward when your session halts because of a technical glitch and you are like "oh sorry guys I need to manually do this looks like FG is broke " ....

So do the encounter "parcels" mean nothing now? What's the point of them if they don't add the npcs to the CT?

Thanks.

**EDIT: This might be related to an extension as I loaded it on a second computer (I run two instances when prepping) it seems fine, but on the other its not....*** Leaving post up until I verify....Just wanted to add that.

Jan 7, 2024 Final Update: This was verified to be cased by the extension 5e Critically Awesome Essentials, when I disabled that the issue ceased from happening.

In light of this, I didn't change a word of my original report of the issue, I was agitated thinking it was something in the main code of FGU and it wasn't. It was me jumping the gun on conclusions. I'm not one that hides from when I'm wrong though so I left all that text unchanged.

If a moderator wishes they can delete this topic entirely (I briefly tried to delete it myself but I don't think I can).

Which ruleset?

Have you tested in a new campaign without extensions?

This is working as expected for me in the 5e ruleset, and I haven’t seen any reports of a similar issue to the one you describe.

I had a similar issue with this extension, but the developer posted an updated version at the DM's Guild that resolves the problem.
