View Full Version : Where did the token hover options go?

Before the latest update, for things such as Health bars and Effects icons on tokens, there was also a hover option. This however, has now been removed and the only option is on or off (or bar, dot, and off for health, when we also used to have bar hover and dot hover).
I honestly cannot fathom why this option was removed. I was using it to have tokens look less cluttered without losing access to the handiness of the bar and the icons. :(

The hover is now replaced with the enlarged token that pops up in the top left corner of the map when a token is hovered over.

Except it's not really the same thing now, is it? If I have say, the health on 'OFF', then it's off in the upper corner too. So, no functionality on having stuff not appear unless you hover over the token.
Secondly, if the map is maximized, the upper right corner where that thing is will be covered by either the CT when it's open (which, alright, that's on me for putting it the CT there), BUT, it's also blocked by the 4th and 5th players' portraits!
*sigh*
I'm sorry. I understand the idea behind this, and I'm sure it's good on paper, and I also understand that it sounds like a small thing--it is small objectively speaking.
But objectively speaking it's also needlessly removing a function of the software... or at least replacing it with something that's not even functional if you have 5 players (and even with less, it's still not doing what the old hover was doing).

I don't disagree. I'm not sold on the new functionality either. I'm sure the devs will read our conversation and consider. They may have future capabilities in mind we just haven't seen yet. Hopefully.

I was waiting for the holidays to finish before bumping this. I'm bumping because I would greatly appreciate some official word on the matter. :)

The purpose was to simplify the number of options, since ever-increasing options increases complexity of software.
I've also thought about making the options separate between the overview and the token somehow; though that sort of defeats the option reduction. Maybe have a single option to hide all token widgets (name, health, effects) unless hovering? Does that accomplish the same thing that you're looking for?

I have re-instated these options for now. I'd still like to find a way to reduce the need for these options in a simpler way, so I'll be looking at that in the future.
