Having trouble with Ambient Light

Hi,

I've enabled light, and I've added ambient light. Then I tried adding a mask, to block the ambient light indoors. But...nothing happens when I hide area. I've also tried alt-left mouse and ctrl and shift left mouse. nothing happens, the entire map remains lit.

I thought it might have somethign to do with the map being imported, but i tried using a random image and same problem.

Turns out that, under ambient lights, i had to also enable shadows, which I had turned off because i like the shadows i bake in through dungeon draft. But having the preset set to none helps eliminate fantasyground driven shadows in the lit/outdoor portion. testing with NPC tokens with and w/o darkvision verified it's working. ty.
