Hello I seem to have trouble opening the NPC sheets for friendly NPCs. I am trying to do so by double clicking the icon on the icon in the combat map. This used to work no issues but lately no matter how much I click it won't open a friendly NPC character sheet. My friend also has trouble but he can sometimes get it if he tries like 10 times.
Is there another thing I can try?
This is not a complaint, love fantasy grounds its amazing.

I'm not sure that double clicking on an NPC token ever opened the NPC sheet for players. However a recent change is that players can now double click on the CT icon to open the map that the token is on (provided it is on a map and that map has been shared by the DM). So if there was previously such functionality that has changed. You can double click on an NPC token on a map to open the NPC sheet as a player (this works for PC tokens as well).
The DM has similar functionality (and mostly did before - the recent update just make this available to players).
One other possibility is that you may be using an extension which allows an NPC sheet to open by double clicking on the CT token and that extension may need updating or is now no longer needed.

What ruleset? Are you the GM or Player? Is the GM using any extensions? What are you trying to double click? Sounds like the token on the map. Is the token added to the map from the Combat Tracker? Can you show a screen shot with a circle or arrow showing what you are double clicking on? Is the NPC set to friendly? Is it shared with the player trying to open it? Is Party Vision and Movement turned on?

Yes sorry its my first time asking for help and I think I did not clarify some needed details.
DnD 5E (is that the ruleset?)
I am a player (not the DM)
the DM shares the map and puts the NPC on the map and it shows in combat tracker as friendly green
The DM can open the sheets by double clicking the icon on the map
I however can not, I double click the character will highlight on and off but no character sheet opens
my other friend has the same difficulty but if he tries like 10 or 15 times it seems to work. I have tried like 30 times it never works
I have the base build of fantasy grounds with general in start menu updates. I have no extensions installed or any modifications.
I can interact with all functions and icons and general movement with no issue, this is the only issue I am having that does not seem to be globally consistent for other players so I am thinking I am either doing something different I am not aware of doing, I have a setting flipped somewhere, or corrupted file?
Should I just uninstall and reinstall FG?
I am really trying to help my DM out because I play druid, and our DM always has to control my character wild shape icons and summon animals :( I feel guilty.
Thank you so much for replying.

Looking at the coding, with a double-click on a token, the player should be able to open PC records (only if they own the PC) and NPC records (only if the NPC is set to "friend" faction).
It's also possible that there are extensions overriding behaviors which might prevent the default behavior from working.

No, you don't need to do anything. The DM needs to share the NPC with you. Just making them green on the Combat Tracker is not enough.
There are 3 common ways for druids to handle wildshape and summoned allies;
1) Create additional PCs, one for each wildshape you use and for your summons. Then you can take control of multiple PCs as needed and the DM can put them on the CT as needed.
2) Have the DM share those NPC records with you from the start (before you get into combat) and make sure Party Vision and Movement is on so you can move them.
3) Ask your DM to use an extension. There are several on the FG Forge that can handle Wildshape and summons. But, they cost money, so maybe if they are willing to use it, you could buy it and then gift it to them.
My players and I use method 1. It gives them the most control and limits what I as a DM need to worry about.

Doesn't directly address you problem, but check this out:
Friend Zone (https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/170/view)
Just move your wildshape icon onto your PC sheet.

just having them be "friendly" green on the combat tracker and map as always been enough for my players to be able to open an npc, i've never once "shared" it first. worked in pf1e and pf2e not sure about 5e but i would assume its the same.

Friendly NPC added to map, player double clicks on the token, opens the NPC record. This is working fine for me in the PFRGP2 ruleset, no extensions.
Test it in a brand new campaign with no extension.

It looks like the updates fixed it. We tested it and absolutely no issue opening the sheet double click and boom.

Based on the comment just previous to yours, it's not the same issue; so let's keep the discussions in your thread. I'll add a note there.

Unfortunately this behavior has come back. It's strange I had so much trouble and then one time it randomly opened but I couldn't close and open it again. Is there some kind of setting or conflict on my system. DM has no issues opening it but players struggle. Like if you click 32 times real fast it might open but usually not. Some times not a single issue double click and boom open. But more often than not start a new map and can not open.
Playing 5E, NPC are set to friendly. Can sometimes open them one out of like 30 tries it might open. Can sometimes open them no problem (very rare) When I double click the cursor just blinks like you are selecting it on and off but character sheet does not open. DM is not knowingly doing anything different between times it works and times it doesn't. Very intermittent but mostly never works.

I don't know what the issue is but double clicking on a friendly NPC token on the map is opening the NPC's sheet for me. Have you tested this in a new campaign without extensions? Also what else is going on in the map? What are the maps dimensions (Resolution and size). Does the map have any fx layers on it? Does this happen in any map or just on certain maps?
Your DM may have to zip up the campaign folder and post it here for us to have a look at.

Honestly, this has been admitted to be the case due to the fact double clicks are processed as single clicks also. The fact LOS and token vision has gotten more complex and slower its now gotten impossible to use double click as it will take to long processing the single clicks to be considered a double click.
Known.
Admitted.
Natural selection extension and one of mine - forget which - now use middle mouse button to process what double click used to do. Not sure why anything would be needed to be duplicated - this is KNOWN.
