Am I going mad, or didn't killing an NPC previously automatically untarget them in the CT? (5e ruleset).
Because I'm sure it did, but it now doesn't.

I'm reasonably sure that it did as well; but as you say now it doesn't. I suspect a bug has crept in somewhere.

No, it did not. Nothing changed in that coding in this release.

If the creature is dying and you delete the CT entry (which also deletes the token); then they are automatically untargeted and leave a death marker.

Remember, they are not (always) dead when 0 hit points. Can't be certain they are dead until the DM removes them from the CT. (Zombies, half-orcs, and other creatures with abilities)

This is very true, but I was sure on 0 hp's it auto untargetted the npcs. Guess I'm totally mistaken on that one :)
