View Full Version : Cycle combat tracker from red -> yellow -> green instead of red -> green -> yellow?

Is there a way to do this? The reason I ask is because a lot of the time when I introduce new NPCs into the combat tracker, I want them to be hidden, but when they turn green they're friendly by default. I don't want my NPCs to be red when introducing them, but I also don't want them to be seen or green because then they either get surprises spoiled or they can see all the stats and info on the stat block.

Is there a way to change the order?

What ruleset are you using?

In 5e if I introduce a token as neutral (yellow) to the CT then it cycles through red > black > green > yellow which is the order you want. So if that isn't the order then the ruleset you are using might be different or if you are using extensions one of those might be interfering.

When you put an NPC into the combat tracker, it should be hidden from the players by default (at least it is for me in 5e). Set the faction of the NPC neutral (yellow) before you click the button to show the NPC to the players.

Or set the faction in the encounter before you add it to the CT.

Or you can add you idea to the wish list if you don't like the alternatives. http://fgapp.idea.informer.com/

What if I'm not using the encounter system and just wanted to drag, say, a random sorcerer NPC from the "NPCs" list in the game to the combat tracker? If I click the face it goes from red to green to yellow. They can see it when it's green.

Am I wrong here?

However, it becomes visible automatically when green.

I agree with the OP, having the cycle set so the NPC goes red after yellow would be very helpful in keeping important stats (like HP) hidden.

You are not wrong in the behavior. The devs have asked us (the user community) many times to please put enhancement or behavior change requests on the wish list. That way everyone else in the community can vote on if they like your idea. It helps the developer prioritize what they spend time on.

Just an FYI in case the OP or others don't know:

You don't have to click on the color of the NPC on the combat tracker to change it's color, ie go in some fixed cycle. You can just drag and drop the green / yellow / red icons at the bottom of the combat tracker onto an NPC to instantly change NPC faction from yellow to red. It's the same for PCs too should you wish to hide a PCs wounds from the party for some reason though they could still see the hp bar on the party sheet.

I never knew that.

Is it possible to drag and drop for an entire group? For example, a group of ten town guards go from neutral to hostile?

If you hold the CTRL button before clicking on the faction icon it will cycle in the reverse direction - this is pretty common functionality for most FG "cycler" controls. So, hold CTRL and click on a red faction icon will change it to yellow.

I did not know that! Thanks.
