View Full Version : Looking to Pay a DM for our group

Our group is considering paying a Dungeon Master to run the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path. How does something like this work? Is the Dm paid per session? Are they paid per person playing? What is the going rate? We have a group that meets every second weekend so that would be the cadance of play sessions.

As a quick review, I was curious how this could possibly work and so jumped into a one-shot session with four strangers. It plays differently to with friends, of course, as the DM makes great effort to ensure everyone gets their moment and sticks together, but he was very knowledgeable and did some hilarious voices for his NPCs. It's not really my play style and I prefer to DM for friends, but I recommend it highly to anyone just wanting to jump-in and try out a system.

Some DMs charge on a per-session basis. You pay a set fee for each gaming session, regardless of the number of players. The fee can vary depending on the DM's experience and the complexity of the campaign.
