View Full Version : Strange LoS Issue - Door Stacking, unable to open?

This is in a PFRPG 1e campaign if that matters, extensions active, but also tried without any with the same result.
I created a two separate wall (LoS) layers, one for vision blocking elements outside of the manor, and a separate for the walls (LoS) of the manor. This is so the roof image can sit atop, I can have that LoS layer off and not cast shadows under the roof. For some reason, every clickable element of LoS has a hidden, and undetectable instance of itself appearing under each one, making it unable to be used in the context of token vision.

It's really hard to tell from the video what is going on. I think we'd need to see the actual map and the actual line of sight that you've drawn. I assume that you have one layer with walls, doors and windows and another layer exactly on top of that with just walls which you are turning off to simulate the roof. I just tested that and it works fine for me (in that when the 'roof' layer is turned off then the doors work) but as I say I don't see how your LoS is drawn. Or maybe that's not the problem you have. I'm not sure.

Thanks for the response! As you can see, I'm using an actual roof image to cover the interior portion of the map, and any and all LoS under that roof image can be toggled on/off via it's own LoS layer. The LoS embedded on the actual battlemap is image is for the trees and ruins outside of manor/roof image. In the first image, it is shown that the roof image is toggled on and the manor-specific LoS toggled off, while in the second image, it's shown that the roof is toggled off and the LoS is then toggled on. The issue I'm experiencing, as shown in the video, is that any and all "clickable" elements of the LoS now has 2 separate "open/close" buttons overlaying each other. I can click the top one, but as seen, there is an unidentifiable layer beneath(?) that prevents the token sight from opening a door or seeing through a window.

I could be wrong but it looks like the roof layer doesn't have any line of sight attached to it? If you want to be able to switch on and off a layer then I think you'll need to have the occluders on the same layer as the image you are switching on and of (so that when you switch off the layer the occluders also switch off). I think that may be the issue but again without having the actual image to test makes it difficult to really see what the issue might be and what you need to do to fix it.

Sorry, I can be slow in the morning. Is this (https://drive.google.com/file/d/15bi8Bvul6RAI-ig8hdZCWJRBqf_-6O4Q/view?usp=sharing) what you would need to get a better idea?
I exported the image, vision blocking, and associated assets as a .mod file.

Not sure if this will show in the mod file, but I turned off all LoS and vision blocking layers, and there are still clickable boxes on the windows and doors, even though no other lines are visible. Only now, I can see there are 3-4 apparent instances of these doors and windows, rather than just 2.

Thanks for providing the module. I am able to reproduce the issue with your data and I'm taking a look at it now.

For reasons(?) there are two copies of the first walls layer that are parented to shortcuts. Layers can only be parented to folders, so the copies are not showing up in the layers list. I'll have need to add some checks to images to address this on image load. In the meantime, I can provide you with a copy of your module with the layer copies removed. If you'd prefer to fix it directly in your campaign, I can walk you through how to edit the XML.

I see your issue but I don't know why it's happening. I deleted your door and redrew it and it works. So I can only imagine that there was something in the original. I know there were a few graphical glitches recently which have been fixed; so possibly the LoS on this one was drawn when one or more of these glitches were not fixed. Sorry, I'm not exactly sure.
Edit: OK, so Carl got in first

First off, thanks for giving me some proper language to use to address the specifics of what I'm dealing with, was hoping I wasn't sounding foolish. I would gladly take that copy! I would also appreciate the knowledge of how to edit the XML so I can fix this problem myself in the the future

There is a copy of the module with the changes here:

You'll need to revert the image in your campaign for the changes to take affect.
There is a hotfix that should be going out this week that will fix this error when a campaign is loaded, so you shouldn't need to fix it by hand once that goes live.

The longer term fix that @pindercarl mentioned is now in the Live release.
