Monster ManualVolo's Guide to MonstersMordenkainen's Tome of FoesBoo's Astral Menagerie
5e Solo Gamebooks presents The Solo Adventurer’s Toolbox: Sci-Fi / Spelljammer Edition. This product is similar to the original Solo Adventurer’s Toolbox, but contains resources for running solo sci-fi games, as well as space-fantasy games within the Spelljammer setting (or any setting of your choice). It’s ideal for solo players wanting to explore the infinite cosmos!
This Toolbox contains an oracle, keywords (Spelljammer-focused), Wildspace/Astral Sea exploration tables, ground-based planetary exploration tables, random non-combat encounter tables for many different environs including space stations and Spelljammer cities like the Rock of Bral.
Great for DMs running a campaign such as Light of Xaryxis, who want ideas for random encounters and sidequests to slot in between the different chapters of the main storyline. A solo player running Light of Xaryxis could also use this to branch off on multiple sidequests, and continue their adventures once the campaign is finished.
There are also tables for hard sci-fi RPGs: everything from deep space encounters to urban and space station generators, anomaly tables, as well as fully fleshed-out space and planetary exploration systems.
Featuring carefully-chosen art from well-known sci-fi and fantasy artists, as well as gorgeous original cover art by Ari-Matti Toivonen.
Even if you have no interest in solo adventures, this book is invaluable for GMs running any sort of sci-fi campaign, whether that be space fantasy like Spelljammer, or a more traditional, hard sci-fi campaign. Check out a sample of the many and varied space-based resources this product offers:
A fully fleshed-out system of mechanics for freeform exploration of Wildspace / Astral Sea.
A tool to generate terrain for ground-based planetary exploration.
An easy-to-use tool for freeform exploration of urban settlements within the Spelljammer setting (or any setting).
An oracle (from TSAT2).
A sci-fi themed keywords table.
A chapter that will generate unique Spelljamming ships - including crew, spelljammer, captain, ship quirks and much more.
A sci-fi / Spelljammer-themed quest generator. Gives you a starting quest and also a quest source and background events that might be happening within your system.
All new monster encounter tables, including creature tables for Wildspace, Astral Sea, Urban settlements in Spelljammer, as well as for different planet types and other environs. Encounter calculators adjusted for 1-2 players (Levels 1-20).
A wealth of non-combat random encounters for Astral Sea / Wildspace / Starports / Planetary Dungeons / Deep Space (Hard sci-fi) / Space Stations & Facilities.
50 anomalies that you may encounter while travelling through the cosmos.
New NPC tools: a Spelljammer-flavoured NPC generator, 100 quick Spelljammer NPCs, and other tools such as the Emotional Reaction Table - very useful for managing interactions between your characters and various NPCs.
There is also an appendix of four different gameplays using 5e Spelljammer, and classic hard sci-fi RPGs.
This is a must-have for the solo player who wants to experience the thrill of interplanetary travel, whether on a Spelljamming Ship or a more classic deep space exploration vessel.
All in all, what you have here is a powerful set of tools to enable a GM to build a one-shot or a full campaign from scratch, or for a solo player to do the same. GMs who get no game time could even build their campaigns as they actually play through them, so they get to experience the surprise of the adventure first! Based on the first and second Solo Adventurer's Toolboxes, that is what this system is all about: freeform solo adventuring where the adventure is generated as you move through it.
So what are you waiting for? Pick up this exciting new Toolbox and go in search of strange new worlds today!
