I had an FGU license back in 2020 but had to let it lapse when I ran into financial difficulties. Now I'm trying to install a new FGU license in its place. So far I've not been able to get beyond the updater. Any suggestions on what I should do?
System - iMac running MacOS Ventura. About to update to 13.5.1

It's not entirely clear if you had a subscription or bought a license, though it sounds like you had a subscription. If that is true then you just need to re-subscribe and use the presumably new license. Licenses and purchases are tied to your forum account and you do need to have same e-mail to the paypal subscription and the forum.
You might need to contact the customer support portal if that doesn't help - they can look at your details and walk you through any problems:

If what Griogre said doesn't help then this article might https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/2108456961/Mac+App+or+Updater+Do+Not+Run+After+Update
However you aren't giving us enough details really to help diagnose the issue. If you could provide more details that would be very helpful.

Zaccheus - Thanks for the link! Since I'm trying to replace my terminated subscription with a new one I'm not sure it's an updater problem.FGU Update Engine is stuck on the old (non-operative) subscription and doesn't let me update the license (and password) for the new one. When I try a straight install of a new license, it takes me to an option to uninstall the old subscription - which then stalls out (don't want to lose my old stuff but I was running out of things to try).
Does that help?

First of all make sure that what you have installed is Fantasy Grounds Unity rather than Classic. They are two different programs and are not compatible (and the licenses are different). If it is Unity then you should be able to start FGU and then go to settings and delete your old key and replace it with your new one.
Since you last installed FGU a good few years ago it would probably be best if you just deleted the old installation and then download the latest client from the store page and install that. Your data (campaigns, images, tokens etc that you created yourself) is not stored in the same location as the installation so it's safe to just delete the install folder. If you are concerned about losing data make a backup of your campaign folder first and put it in a safe place before you delete anything. Any purchases that you made (DLC like player modules, adventures etc) that you bought from the store or Steam will not get lost since those are connected to your Smiteworks account and will get downloaded and installed when you update.

Before deleting anything - on the Mac it may be different and removing the app may remove the data...
Try some of the articles on Mac client wont update.

Good advice damned! Fortunately for me the new it appears the new installation has found all my old content. And, weirdly enough, content (specifically characters) I don't remember creating.
