we took a 2 week break from our campaign. during that time, i forgot to pay for the month. now i am trying to pay the 10$ for the ultimate monthly fee, but every attempt at paypal fails, because paypal says, oops, seems there are technical issues, please try again later. been trying for days.
is there another way to renew, or start a new subscription? with out paypal?

Don't think so, buying payment issues should be addressed straight with technical support. They can look at the backend. Contact them via: FG Customer Support - Jira Service Management (atlassian.net) (https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals)

crummy way to do business, limit me to 1 form of payment. guess i will go to another vtt that ALLOWS multiple forms of payment in case 1 form has technical issues.

I don't see other people reporting similar issues, so this is an isolated case - I recommend you reach out to SmiteWorks and/or PayPal to try to get the issue resolved. I'm sure that will be much quicker and less painful than switching to another VTT...

been there, done that, and bought the t shirt.
paypal blames smiteworks, and smitework blames paypal. NO ONE wishes to help, just blame some one else. no way on god's green earth this will be easier than going to foundry or roll20. just a matter of which i like better than FGU's screwed up payment system.
another useless comment. why did you even post? just to get your post count up?

Have you tried using a different browser? Or cleared your browser's cache in case you are accessing a cached page. Or disable any adblockers or other such plugins? (And no this isn't a post to get the post count up; just like Trenloe's post it's an actual attempt to help someone)

Do you honestly think they'll be any different? No one else is reporting the issues you're having - so if you're having issues with PayPal they you'll probably also have issues with payments for other VTTs. And are you going to be able to play Fallout and RMC as well on Foundry and Roll20? I highly doubt it. Like I said, I'd recommend working with support, but if you don't want to then I guess that's your prerogative to try other avenues - hope it works out for you...

That's exactly why I posted, you've got me!

If you receive a response from PayPal indicating that it is a problem with SmiteWorks, you can forward that to our support team at
[email protected], along with any other helpful information in the steps you are taking and where you are receiving error messages. Screenshots and info on your browser will be helpful.
Our team can assist you from there.
The forums are helpful to get input from other users and moderators, but our customer support is the official line for getting assistance from us as a company.
We are not aware of any issues affecting new or renewed subscriptions at this time, so there may be something unique about your situation.

Posting this here for posterity, maybe my experience will help somebody else...
I, too, have had problems paying via Paypal, and have gone the rounds with Smiteworks support and Paypal support. I was finally able to work around my issues but selecting the option in Paypal to pay with credit/debit card, instead of signing in with my Paypal account. Then I had to put in an alternate email address that was NOT my Paypal account and continue payment as a guest. Then when it redirected me back to Smiteworks, the order was linked to the Smiteworks account that I started with. The order history shows my alternate email address, but everything in FG still works great.
[This was for a regular store puchase, not a subscription, so I don't know how that might change things.]
