So, Paizo announced Starfinder 2E which is supposed to be fully(!) compatible with Pathfinder 2E. I think that means their rulesets and modules should be developed alongside each other to ensure the greatest amount of intercompatibility. I haven't had a chance to look at the released fieldtest (https://paizo.com/starfinderplaytest) yet, but I'm guessing this probably also means that you can - for the most part - just copy&paste the ruleset and just change the layout a bit ... or maybe just develop one combined ruleset and have some checkmarks and switches based on which sort of campaigns you want to run.

I'd love to hear some dev input on this.

Man I'm hoping that's not the case.

To clarify: I love that Starfinder 2E is going to run on the same base system as Pathfinder 2E. However, I hope the systems are not so similar as to be indistinguishable. That feels like it would lose a lot of Starfinder's distinctiveness.

I think the base mechanics will be pretty much the same (3 actions, attack rolls, saves, attributes etc), but the flavour will probably be quite different. There seem to be some skills that aren't really translatable e.g. "Computers" but other than that it seems to have the same base.

The state of SFRPG 2E is a bit in flux and not finalized at all. There is a year gap of Beta and testing on their end till they have a final product. Can't provide a certainty of how it will be handled without seeing the final product. Many things could change from now till then. So till a final product is ready, we can't really look over what that system will be and how best to provide it to the community.
