I have a game in 10 minutes and bought this link pack. Installed from steam. Opening FGU, updated, loaded campaign loaded the new module.....and there are no links.

Unloaded and reloaded module....no links....closed FGU...updated...open FGU...load module....still no links.

Yes my Syrinscape stuff works find...my other soundsets work properly.

The sound links are to pages in the reference manual; not the story entries.

I was hastily reading it over as I made the purchase and missed that. I do see the sound link from the reference manual.

Does this choice have to do with using Reference Manuals moving forward instead of story entries? I thought I read or saw there is an initiative to move that direction.

It seems that it was the developers choice on this occasion. Where there is only reference manuals then the links would need to be to the reference pages. For legacy modules they could link to either story or reference.

I like the idea of moving towards the reference manual format. Now that I have ran a session using "D&D Curse of Strahd - Syrinscape Sound Link Pack" via the reference manual, I have a statement to make. When it comes to purchased content I typically I don't have the story menu open while crawling a dungeon or a house with my players. I have the player map open (and sometimes DM map) and as they enter a room I click the red pin to get the story entry and proceed.

Since the link pack does not use story entries for Curse of Strahd, I would expect the maps to be updated with red pins that link to the reference manual instead of (or maybe as well as) the story entries. This last game play I had to follow along in the reference manual on which rooms the party enters to utilize the link pack. I have enough windows open as a DM and would like to continue to just use the red pins on a map that should be linked to the reference manual so I can utilize the map pack without further work on my end.

I realize that I can manually drag entries from the reference manual onto each room of the maps and use the red pins in the same way...but I did pay $10 for linked content.

Thanks for the help Zacchaeus.

Indeed, I agree with you. If the map pins are linked to the story then the sound pack should have been linked to the story as well. It's only in later modules that the story entries have been dropped in favour of reference pages and in those cases it is the reference which is linked to the map. I'm not going to go back into legacy modules and change the way they work. Apart from the fact this would break every on going campaign it isn't in some cases technically possible to link the reference to the maps. The way modules are produced has changed and evolved over the years that I've been developing them and generally it isn't a good idea to go back and interfere with something that works.
