Hello!

I've been copying creatures (NPCs) and editing them to make new creatures for as long as I've been using FGU (5e ruleset). But over the past month or so, I've noticed that sometimes image links are broken (and sometimes not). The error text (insert the appropriate jpg name) is:

Attempt to open wildcard links(s) that do not match any loaded module data. Check your active Library modules.
(reference.imagedata.img_phasespider_jpg@*)

I've tried installing updates, unloading and reloading the appropriate module...but what I just noticed tonight is that this works just fine on the original phase spider. It's only my customized copy where the link broke. Also, I can re-copy the original jpg over to the new NPC and it fixes it, but I have dozens of creatures to do this to. So I'm hoping it can be fixed on the dev end instead.

*fingers crossed* 🤞

The error is telling you that the image is in a module which you don't have open in your campaign. The @* at the end of the link is indicating a 'blind' link. Meaning that FG will search for the image in any open module; so as long as you have a module open in the campaign that contains the image of a phase spider it should find it.

If this doesn't answer your question can you give us more details of what you are doing to the NPC after you copy it.

I'll walk you through another example step-by-step, because I made fewer changes to the copy of Cult Fanatic. I should also mention I'm on a Macbook.

1. About 18 months ago, I drag and dropped the Cult Fanatic NPC to create a new copy and named it "Cult Fanatic (lower CR)".
2. I edited some fields in the new copy (hit points, de-selected ID, reduced spells available, etc). At that point, when I went to the Other tab and clicked the jpg link it opened the original Cult Fanatic image no prob.
3. But currently, without any new edits to the NPC, when I click the jpg link I get the error I pasted above for (reference.imagedata.img_cultfanatic_jpg@*)
4. Now back to the phase spider, I made a copy to create a spyder-fiend. After seeing the experience I mentioned above, I confirmed A) I could still open the image from the original Phase Spider NPC no problem, and B) the NPC list showed the source as the D&D Monster Manual (5E).
5. I went to Modules, saw that the Monster Manual was loaded and I had the option to Unload it. I Unloaded it, then Loaded it again, and this did not solve the problem.
6. I deleted the image link from the Other tab on my spyder-fiend, drag and dropped the original Phase Spider image over to the spyder-fiend, and now I can open it from the copy without any errors.

The thumbnail of the token looks fine on the copy, if that helps.
