Hello guys,

I wanted to give a tribal shield to an NPC ,that gives her + 2 toughness vs ranged attacks.

I tried variations it [Toughness +2 vs Ranged],[Toughness +2 #Ranged]….but I can’t quite figure it out.

How do I do this?I want to make it a special ability, not a piece of gear for simplicity reasons.

I'm trying to accomplish something similar with a weapons grouping. I'm not seeming to find a means of accomplishing it the way I wanted.

In my case, it's looking like maybe custom keywords, and adding that custom Keyword to each item impacted. In my case medieval, not ranged, but I haven't tested it.

I'm hoping [@Medieval +2] will work once I've added the medieval keyword to all impacted items.

See the examples in the Wiki Savage Worlds effects page here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996643800/Savage+Worlds+Effects#Attack-effect-expressions

The examples suggest you can use [Ranged Toughness +2]

Hello and thank you for the replie:-)

I gave her under special abilities [Ranged Toughness +2] ,but it doesn’t work:-/

She still uses her vanilla toughness vs ranged attacks.
Is there any way to give gear to NPC?
I could not figure it out.If I drag and drop it into her gear ,it is listet as :“shield (+1 parry,+2 Toughness vs ranged attacks)“ but it does nothing.

I created her ,using the NPC maker extension, using a statt block from a pre made adventure

Where did you put the effect? It needs to be under notes.

The item needs to be added to the NPC before it's dropped in the combat tracker. Item effects show in the Combat Tracker (CT) after the NPC is added. If you add the shield to the NPC after they're in the CT then the effect is added.

Thank you so much!
That worked perfectly. My error was ,that I left the note field empty. After copying the order into it ,it did what I want.
I feel kind of dump now I admit, because I thought the Fat Name of the ability was the important part and notes where just reminder /additional explanations.

TLDR
Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad English…I know that must be annoying, but everyone here is super nice and helpful!

That's how you accomplish this. It's a bit of effort, but it works. I do this in my sci-fi game with lasers, sonic blasters, etc. There are various effects that work well with custom keywords.

If you (or another kind soul) would allow me one follow up Question:

I tried to create a pounce attack for a Tiger ,which is basically a beefed up wild attack.
Instead of +2 on Fighting &Damage ,he gets +4 with being vulnerable until his next turn .

I tried :

[>Fighting +4, Melee Damage +4,
>#Attacke +2]

And

[>Fighting +4, Melee Damage +4,
>@Attacke +2]
And

[>Fighting +4, Melee Damage +4,
>#Vulnerable]
And also

[>Fighting +4, Melee Damage +4,
>@Vulnerable]

But nothing works.
The Tiger gets his +4 Fighting/Damage Bonus but doesn’t become Vulnerable.

I also tried to split it into two separate effects
[>Fighting +4, Melee Damage +4]
[>#Vulnerable]

But it did not work :-/

What did I do wrong ?

I'm glad to hear I'm not off the mark. Seemed the most straightforward means to accomplish specific things.
