Recently discovered I need to replace the motherboard on my PC, which I know for some software licenses is keyed to the computer's motherboard (like the Microsoft OS, Office, etc.)

Does the Fantasy Grounds license operate like that or is it more tied to the drive it's installed on?

Your license is not keyed to anything. You can always reinstall Fantasy Grounds should you need to do so. I would suspect that replacing your motherboard may also need you to reinstall your operating system so make sure that you back up your FG campaign data onto another computer, external drive, or cloud store or whatever,

I think Zacchaeus meant not tied to any hardware or computer. Your license *is* tied to your forum account which is why you should have a good password on it and keep it attached to a current e-mail.

Technically I don't think licenses are tied to your forum account ether; only the DLC is.

Possibly? But it would be hard to get your license from the store history if you couldn't login?

If the license was tied to a forum account you wouldn't be able to buy licenses from Steam. But it's a minor point; for the OP's purpose the answer to their question is no it isn't.
