My current laptop is showing its age and I am switching to a desktop system. All good there.
Has anyone used a Chromebook to connect it to do game prep and such. I am not having much luck finding a decent ChromOS RDP client is both stable and free.
i have no intentions of using this for actual game play

is there a reason you want to use a Chromebook? is it price or because you want to use ChromeOS? If I was doing it for the price I dont think the $$ justify having to learn a whole new OS etc. That would be my perspective on it.

It is about price. Other than FGU everything else I do on my laptop is through the browser. So, another laptop doesn't make sense for me. Also, I can easily replace a part in a PC. It is more difficult in a laptop.
I am already pretty familiar with ChromeOS. I am really just trying to get opinions about RDP clients for ChromeOS. Sorry if I was a bit vague in my original post.
[edit] Has anyone tried Chrome Remote Desktop?

I haven't done it in ages, but at one point I had a similar need to manage FGU via remote desktop to my home computer, and I ended up using Chrome Remote Desktop https://remotedesktop.google.com/access
It worked pretty well actually, didn't have even a single hiccup, but I was using Chrome browser on a Linux Mint laptop as the client, not ChromeOS. In theory there should be no difference, but it's not guaranteed.

I use Chrome Remote Desktop for lots of personal remote access usage. It works well. My experience was that if I didn't use it between updates I'd have to re-set all of my PIN codes, though.

thank you all for the feedback.
We have a couple of Chrombooks in the house already. I'll give Chrome Remote Desktop a try this evening. I'll be sure to report back how it went so others might benefit.
