View Full Version : Connecting from my laptop to my Ultimate FGU session

Hey there, I wanted to test some modules by connecting as a player.
If I wanted to do this from my macbook, how is it best done?

MY Windows box is hosting with Ultimate license.
I know I can connect with a demo account to it and test. Thing is on my macbook, I already installed the app and it installed as me. Is there a way to put a second "demo only" account on my macbook for this sort of client test. Or so I have to keep deauthing (never tried) the account by removing the key? I'd rather not do something that requires back and forth cut and past not to mention if it causes me to remove then redownload the bleep ton of things I've bought on it already.

Just don't enter your license key. Or remove it and maybe run an update. You can leave your username logged in on both computers.its you username that causes all the downloads.

Ps, you do know you can start a second instance on the same computer and connect as a player?

Yeah, I am used to doing the second instance thing :) I just wanted to be able to use more screen real estate time to time with the laptop. It's why this came up for the first time in years of using FG. I always did module testing on the same host. Thanks - I was worried removing the key (it was already typed in long back cos I use the laptop to play when I am travelling - and back when my boy was little and couldn't sleep on Wed nights when it used to be the only night I played so I would take it into his room and play there...quietly - for once...) [EDIT: Hah distracted myself and didnt finish the thought:] worried that removing the key would be equivalen to de-authing and like all the rulesets/modules would be removed and need to be redownloaded when I reentered the license.
