Hi

How to know what size height and width your map grid should be ? not sure if 200.0 or 100.0 is better.

I have a snapshot attached... at 50.0

is it better to use a no grid and put a grid on or choose the same image with a grid ?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you're using a RPG system that has a 5 foot grid system in the rules, go with a grid on the map that aligns with what 5 feet would be, while trying to keep within the FG image size guidelines: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/2037547009/Developer+Guide+-+Product+Guidelines

50 pixels is good for larger maps, while 100 is nice for smaller maps (allows for more detail if you zoom in). Ultimately, your grid size will probably be driven by your image size - keeping the guidelines in mind.

If you have the choice, it's usually better to go with a map without a grid and then put an FG grid on - as sometimes it can be hard to line up the FG grid exactly with the native map grid. For some maps it will be fine and you can line up the FG grid then turn it off - allowing for snapping, movement/range measuring, etc. and the original map grid showing as the cartographer intended.

If you don't know the scale of a map (that is there's no indication on the map what size the grid is) then I'd suggest that you look at a door if there is one and then use your mouse to draw a grid that's as wide as the door. This will give you an idea of how many pixels you want per grid.
