View Full Version : Ambient Lighting mask not working properly

Hi :)
I am not sure about the following problem, so I just wanted to make sure first whether that got already reported: I added ambient lighting with a mask so that not all of the map is affected. It worked properly via a connected player instance. But that was when I prepared it :)
Several days later when I started the campaign, my players were able to see everything, even the dark places. On my gm instance (with activated player vision) it worked properly, but not for my players. Once I redraw the mask live it worked for them :)
I suspect that restarting the campaign does something with the mask for the players, not sure; I can try to replicate in case this is not yet a known issue :) (but I have the feeling I already read somewhere about this problem :) )

To clarify:
1) The ambient light mask worked for you when tested it with a locally connected client.
2) It did not work when actual players connected.
I haven't heard anything regarding this bug, so it is unlikely that it has been reported.

Thanks for your answer :) I try to clarify:
I tested the ambient lighting twice: In a session for preparing the map, and then the actual gaming session itself.
The locally connected client also didn't see the correct ambient lighting in the actual gaming session; only in the preparation session it worked for the locally connected client (but no actual players were connected in the preparation session). So, I think the locally connected client behaves like the player instances (?). I had to redraw the mask in order to make the ambient lighting work :)
This is why I wondered whether the mask on the player instances somehow got affected by the restart of the campaign (because the actual gaming session was some days after the preparation).
The GM instance always saw the correct ambient lighting (with player vision turned on), also in the actual gaming session before I redrew the map
Oki, I will try to reproduce it the next days, and if I cannot reproduce it anymore, then I hope it was just an error on my side somehow (though it is confusing why the GM instance was working properly) :D

Hi :)
Sorry for the delay. I tested this behaviour now with the new patch, and I was gladly not able to reproduce it :) So, either it got fixed or it was an error on my part :)
However, I found a related bug: The ambient light's mask layer can be toggled to be invisible to players with the "second new eye button" there (the right one; the left eye button seems not to do anything for this mask).
If I toggle the visibility, then the mask is still shown client side, while the DM side properly and immediately updates. That is, turning the mask off with the new visibility buttons seems to have no effect on the client side. The client may need to rejoin to update properly (but I didn't test that)
