Okay, here's what I'm trying to do. I have an NPC (a half-orc) and I'm putting an old 2e Module (Treasure Hunt) into my campaign. The NPC is currently severely intoxicated, with a -3 modifier to his 'to hit' rolls. How do I put that into the Character so it applies when combat starts?

Also, sort of related - does the basic 5E-SRD not have the option to use half-orcs? Because I'm trying to get an updated CR.

Thanks for your help

There might be a community extension that automatically applies effects when an NPC is added to the Combat Tracker, but 5E has no way to do that automatically. I would just put a note in the linked story or an action in the NPC with the wording of the effect you can just copy and paste into an effect on the CT when you add them. Or, since its unlikely the NPC will lose the effect during combat, just modify the NPC so the stat block has the effects already calculated in.

As for the SRD, no, it does not include the half-orc race in it.

Intoxicated is a built in effect in 5e. You can drag it onto the NPC in the Combat Tracker from the effects window.

Okay thanks for letting me know.

Yeah, I saw the option in effects, but I was trying to drag it to the NPC card, but without success. I'll just make a note on the screen to add the effect when combat starts

Effects can only be applied to actors in the combat tracker.
And you apply it to the actor entry in the combat tracker.

Thanks for your help, and I'll try to remember the dice modification when I finally get to run the adventure. There's a heck of a learning curve to FGU, and since I've only ever played around a table, it's a whole new world.

FG is very powerful, and has a lot to learn. But don't feel you have to get everything "right" the first time. I've been using it ~7 years, and I don't use everything it can do, only the parts that help me run my game.
