View Full Version : Some sort of simple AI Wall LoS tool to save time

I use a ton of custom maps. Most have an exterior version and and interior version. But they're all custom and take me hours to complete the LoS. I love the direction Dungeon Alchemy is going. If we had a tool that could at least do the basic LoS for all the walls of a cave or buildings, it would be a tremendous time save to go in and fix any errors or add doors and windows. Maybe the AI can even recognize torches, lamps and candles and automatically generate lights as well. A customizable AI LoS tool would be a huge benefit to our platform.

Just an FYI Dungeondraft does have a 3rd party tool that builds LOS so it is similar to DA: https://dungeondraft.net/

I do think edge detection would be awesome.

Oh yes I love dungeondraft. My only issue is that I purchased a bunch of map packs for my campaign from a really talented Inkarnate user and I'd like for it to be as quick as possible. But I will definitely attempt to do the LoS on DD and see how it translates back to FG. Thanks for the advice!

Would definitely be a nice feature to have for FGU to help put it a step above the other VTTs/map makers though.

You can get the DungeonDraft tool here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?68774-A-new-Dungeondraft-to-Fantasy-Grounds-Unity-conversion-tool

It works good on Dungeon maps. It puts too many points down on Cave maps, though.

Splendid sir! Thank you for the extra work! I had no idea that they had a conversion tool. Very cool! You've just saved me hours in prep my friend. And it means a lot coming from someone who's a perfectionist.

Honestly this needs to be pinned and I hope that the devs are able to implement it into the FGU map editor too. But in the meantime it's a godsend for sure.

Arkenforge has recently leveled up their support and features for Fantasy Grounds Los, doors and windows too now. They are looking into more static lighting options too now, etc.

Thank you! I knew all the good ideas were taken, I'm just a bit disappointed that they're not higher up on the vote charts. The competition for Smiteworks is really good though. Back in 2016 when I started playing online there was Roll20 and FG from what I can remember. Now I can't count them all on both hands and both feet if I were AI generated!

Ah so I spent hours figuring out Python only to finally come to the realization that all my maps created in Inkarnate are .png and .jpg and can't be converted to .dd2vtt. It would be nice if it were a two way street rather than a one way street. I still appreciate the advice and it make DungeonDraft the most useful map tool for FGU atm.
