I've only owned FG II for a week now so I'm not too familiar on the ins and outs yet. The problem I'm having is getting FG II to see my maps. I searched through all the posts but couldn't find any help for my situation. I use Dungeonforge for my maps and I placed them in my images folder under my campaign and I edit the name of the file and changed it to a .jpg, .gif, and a .png and still I don't see them in FG II when I load it up. The largest map is 512 Kb which isn't very big. I've researched my problem for about 3 hours already and haven't found any solutions in the forum. Can anyone help me? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I haven't tried opening the files up in photoshop ( I don't have it ), and saving them as .jpg or .gif or .png. Not sure if that would make a difference since I'm able to just click on the file name and change it to those. Any help would be very welcome. Thanks

I am not familiar with Dungeonforge, what is the default format it saves the files in? If its a propietary format you will need to use their software to save the map out as a PNG or JPG. Just renaming it doesn't do any conversion.

Yes, .png and .jpg are different formats a program can save a file. Then when another program tries to read the file it knows what format to use because of the .png or .jpg extension on the back.

When you save the file suing Dungeonforge it is being saved in some file format. You are then manually changing the extension to something else but the file is still saved in whatever format Dungeonforge saved it in. As you have found out, this doesn't work.

Does Dungeonforge allow you to save files in other formats? This would be the easiest thing to do. Otherwise, as you have said, you'll have to use another program to open it up and then resave it using a correct file format.

Good luck!

Thanks richvalle and joshuha. I thought that might be the problem but I guess I was being too lazy to download something to help me change the file. Thankfully Dungeonforge had an export option I never noticed that allow me to change the file into a .jpg or .png file. I loaded up FG II and they were both there. Thanks again
