are there any planned updates to the Pathfinder 2e FG module? It may be that I'm just spoiled because the 5e stuff was so very polished, but the PF2 stuff is really bare-bones.
Also, I'm hurting inside from abandoning hundreds of dollars of 5e stuff in FG, D&D Beyond, and other places, so some good news on the PF2 front would really help. =)
Thanks, guys. Been using FG for 18 years now and loving it!

Really? Are we talking about comparing the base 5E without a bunch of community extensions with PF2? I think there's areas of the PF2 ruleset that have more functionality than the 5E ruleset. I assume you have the official Core Rules module and Bestiary, as they come with a lot of automation built into the data records? If you don't have the official Paizo product conversions then yes, all you'll get is the ruleset framework and you'll need to enter all the data in yourself.

Refer to these videos that highlight some of the features and automation in the PF2 ruleset and official Paizo products: https://www.youtube.com/@martinblake4215/videos
Release 19 videos are sneak peaks of upcoming functionality.

Thank you... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be insulting. I just logged in to create a character and the Ancestry, Background, and Class picking was automated, and the rest of it was less than intuitive... especially for someone who doesn't know the system well. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend.

I think you will have to try harder than that to offend Trenloe ;) I think he's just a bit confused by your perspective.
Can you give us some details on where you are seeing challenges? For instance, do you mean a specific module for PF2E or do you ean the base ruleset itself? What PF3E modules are you using? And we're assuming no extensions.
It's probably a user education thing, BUT, that doesn't mean its your fault. If it is education then that's an easy solution (help educate you) but if it's not then I'm sure Trenloe will want to know so he can consider how an improvement might be made.

I will take the opportunity to add on that. I went through the process of creating a character with my friends, and it is not fluid. I mean, You choose your ancestry, that's good, then you are prompt to choose your heritage, amazing. Then things start to get confusing for me and my friends. There is a lot of text happening in the the box at the bottom of the tracker. There is a warning that some thing might need manual entry, but it is not clear what. You are invited to go see the section ability and rules and adjust on what is ask there, also, there is a big red invite to choose some skill and a pop-up for to choose an ability. I mean, it is easy to get confuse, to lost track of what you did. If you are distracted, you are not sure if you choose the skill or not, because that big red invite don't change or anything. I mean, If I go on paper with the book, I go one step at a time and I have no problem, here, I kind of get lost, and not sure I did all the thing right, if I forgot something or if something didn't enter itself in some box somewhere.
And, for now, I don't understand why you can change the key ability of a class nor the ability related to a skill. But, you can do that on your character sheet, I will get it in time, but not now.
So for my lack of knowledge on FGU, I can understand that someone think it look bare-bones. I am actually seeking knowledge, learning a lot and experimenting a lot with the software so I can ultimately, know how to use it to its full potential. On an other note, I found that a lot of video are outdated with how FGU looks like now.

I think you meant to write cant where you have a can?
You probably cant change the original Key Ability of a Class etc until it is on your sheet because the initial record is the original reference record which if you change it is changed for everyone. Once you add it to your sheet you can edit because that is your copy.
At least I think that is what is happening there...!

No, I mean I can change the key ability.
In the tracker, where you can select your ancestry, background, class, free ability boost, skil etc. If you click on the Key ability, you have a pop-up to select a new key ability. Which is for me weird, since the key ability is linked to you class, so I don't see why you want to change it.

Some classes have different key abilities (monk and ranger, for example) and you may change your mind after making the initial selection. And another reason you can change a key ability (or the ability for a skill) is flexibility - something in the future, or a third party publisher, or a home rule, might allow the changing of abilities. Most people won't change them, but some might. And, as the OP was making comparisons with D&D 5E - in the 5E ruleset you can change the ability related to a skill also. So this is no different from the D&D 5E ruleset, and other similar FG rulesets.

Ah, so you basically mean the ruleset doesn't have a character wizard like the D&D 5E ruleset?
The PF2 ruleset was the first FG ruleset to have any guidance for character creation - with the chargen tracker. The D&D 5E character wizard came later, and was developed by different people. With the amount of PC options that PF2 has, and the more intricate character generation process, something similar to the 5E Character Wizard would be very complex to implement in any VTT for Pathfinder Second Edition. Fantasy Grounds has always made the statement that it is not a character generation application, it's an application that allows you to player aa table top RPG online with your friends - providing a full blown character generation application is beyond the scope of Fantasy Grounds; just look at the complexity of character creation tools for PF2 that are out there. But, over time, the Character Wizard was created for the D&D 5E ruleset - which is the only Fantasy Grounds ruleset that has a character wizard. The PF2 ruleset is the only other ruleset that, to the best of my knowledge, has a good level of guidance/feedback for character creation - with the chargen tracker.
When I was putting the PF2 ruleset together for the original Paizo playtest, I wanted to provide some guidance and help in creating a PF2 character within the ruleset. And I also wanted to provide more feat/feature automation than is available in other rulesets - without having to purchase a bunch of community addons (extensions and modules). But there's a lot more flexibility (complexity to code) in PF2 than D&D 5E, and that means that everything can't be coded at once (or maybe even ever) and so the chargen tracker gives feedback on that - whether FG has any automation, or if it doesn't. And the tracker also provides guidance of what you have to do for other things - training skills, selecting feats, etc.. Is it the D&D 5E Character Wizard? No. But, like I said, I don't think something like that is feasible for PF2 within a VTT.
Watch some of the character creation videos I linked in post #3, these help to give an overview of the process and how to use the chargen tracker as guidance for your selections and things you have to do in your character sheet.

The 5E Charcater Wizard pretty much took one full time dev a whole year to build :)

I agree on the complexity of the ruleset and Fantasy ground make a good job with that complexity, and flexibility. I am just learning how to navigate with that flexibility. Which mean, I can do what I want, but sometimes, I don't want to do things, but I don't know that I should not do it. Probably, with time, when I will have a more comprehensif understanding of ALL the tools (I mean, their is so much, which I love by the way) we can use in Fantasy Ground, I will feel confident and happy that it is the way it is now. I am watching a tons of video, unfortunately, I end-up on a lot of video of D&D 5e and not on Pathfinder 2.
Put honestly, keep the good work on the software and in the community. I understand that you do a lot of response and content integration in the FGU. THANK YOU Trenloe

I understand your frustration in finding video content for Pathfinder 2e that is compatible with the Fantasy Grounds Unity VTT platform. It can be challenging to find people who are knowledgeable about both, but I want to encourage you to keep exploring and learning about both the rule set and the VTT.
It's important to remember that as Pathfinder 2e continues to grow and gain popularity, more tutorial content and resources might become available. In the meantime, you can continue to create your own content and collaborate with others who are passionate about the rule set.
I also want to remind you that the more you use the Fantasy Grounds Unity platform, the more comfortable you will become with it. It may take time to learn all the ins and outs of the platform, but with practice, you will begin to understand its limitations and benefits.
In terms of resources for Pathfinder 2e, there are many online communities and forums where you can connect with other players and find helpful information. The Paizo website has a wealth of resources, including forums, rules clarifications, and adventure paths. There are also many Pathfinder 2e podcasts and YouTube channels that provide helpful tips and discussions about the rule set.
Building characters is key to the game for sure..

To those reading this thread - let's be clear here: Fantasy Grounds has the largest amount of official Paizo PF2 material available on any VTT platform - over 130 products with new releases being made on, or close to, the Paizo release date of the product (with the odd exception due to ruleset code complexity or converters playing catchup). So there's plenty of official content available for, and compatible with, Fantasy Grounds.
See the product conversion status thread here for details of what's been converted and what is close to release: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?61483-Pathfinder-Second-Edition-Official-Paizo-Product-Conversion-Status

All good! Thanks for clarifying and editing your post. I was making sure others that might have read your post the same way I did were aware of the massive amount of official content available for PF2 on Fantasy Grounds!
