View Full Version : FGU Map Sharing Issue

Hi everyone. I had some technical difficulties last session. To put it simply, when sharing a map with a second client on the same PC, the map seems to not load paint stamps completely. Some layers load fine, others do not load at all. Things I've tried:

Cycle through the "set visibility" modes on the problem layers

Unsharing and sharing

Toggling LOS and Lighting off/on

clearing the cache

/flushdb from GM client

running both clients as administrator

restarting PC and FGU

This only started during this session. Other things to note:

I do have a fairly large map on the GM client that we used last session. It was very laggy and some paint stamps didnt load unless I cycled through their visibility.

I haven't tried reinstalling FGU

I might try deleting (sigh...) the big map I made, but will back it up before doing so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here's what I'm talking about https://i.imgur.com/aU6vgmA.png

Attached is my console log

Also side note, I have a 7.41gb png assets folder in my AppData\Roaming\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds\images folder. Dunno if that's contributing to the problem.

Welcome to the forums.

The console isn't going to help much here since the most likely reason will lie with layers and how you've created the map. If you can link the campaign folder here so we can have a look at the campaign and the map in question it might be easier to diagnose your issue.

Hey thanks for the reply. Here's a dropbox link to my zipped campaign folder.

I tried exporting the problem maps into a module and sharing them that way. Only the maps with third party assets are having this issue. Maps with only FGU assets load their paint layers completely and without any assets missing. I'm thinking this is a problem stemming from my 7.41gb folder of third party PNG assets in my "FantasyGrounds/images" folder. Could it be simply too many png files that FGU has to sift through to match the network sends and receives?

I've asked our image developer @pindercarl to take a look too. We may need the assets too, if they are custom ones you added to the installation and are used in the map. Otherwise, the campaign won't have access to them.

I can't see the map that you showed the image for above; I think Moon Wizard may be correct in stating that you are using assets that I don't have and so some of the maps are fairly empty and others are missing bits. Anything I share with players shares exactly as it's viewed on the DM side though.

Hey the zip finally uploaded. Here is the google drive link for all the assets. The FA_Assets folder needs to be placed in "appdata/SmiteWorks/FantasyGrounds/Images"

That's where the maps are loading the assets from.

Update:

I tried building a quick map with multiple layers using the ArtSub assets. Still the same issue of the player client (localhost) not loading the entirety of certain layers. Seems to be almost random which layers are affected. Some load completely, while others only partially load. However, it seems to be isolated to the paint stamp tool. All of my Strokes and Fills load just fine.

My next option would be a complete reinstall of fantasy grounds. Going to try and validate the files through Steam first.

Except for me, the developers do not work over the weekend. Our image developer should be available on Monday to investigate.

Thanks for the update. Just a quick afterthought: I think I've boiled it down to a problem specific with the player client to GM client connection, both localhost and over the cloud. I tested it on another PC, created a new campaign, loaded a module with only the problem images and still the same issue with the exact same missing paint stamps.

I also put together another quick map with about 10 layers. Spent about an hour putting it together. Used only assets from the Art Subscription. Same issue.

Thanks again for your time and hopefully Monday your image developer can investigate. Looking forward to any news from your team.

Thanks for the files. I am able to reproduce the bug and I am looking into the issue.
