AD&D 2nd Edition - Priest cannot memorize spells

The priest in my group has 3 spells of first level available.

But can only memorize 2 of them, then a message comes up that he doesn't have enough spell slots.

We had this problem before, I couldn't find any way to fix it, so I re-made the whole character.
He could memorize all 3 spells after that.

Now the same problem has appeared again. Even after a long rest the character can only memorize 2 of the 3 spells.

I'm at my wits end and don't feel like constantly re-creating that character. Would appreciate help.

You shouldn't need to recreate the character. If you can reproduce the cause of the issue I'd be happy to know how and look into fixing it.

That said, you should be able to fix it as the DM.

Toggle/untoggle those checks as needed. You might want to remove all memorization of spells and then see if anything is checked, if so, uncheck them.

Once thats done they should be able to memorize all slots as expected.

Thanks, unchecking the slots on the top did the trick.
But shouldn't those reset automatically after a long rest?

No, those indicate that the player has memorized something in a slot. This shows what has been used or not and is reset when they get a longrest.
