\This extension adds a Chatlog Viewer so you can easily review chat logs from previous sessions.

Usage:
Open: The chatlog viewer can be opened using the tool button near the options button.

Parse the Log: To parse the log, click on the refresh button in the top left of the window. If you have a large chat log from many sessions, this could take some time.

Select Session: After parsing the log, the dropdown will be updated with an entry with the date each session was started in the format YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MM. Select the session and review the log below.

Date Format Option
The extension allows the GM to select a date format for the dropdown box.
Format 1 = YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM
Format 2 = MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM
Format 3 = DD.MM.YYYY HH:MM
Format 4 = DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM

Thank you!

Edit - Upon testing this does not seem to work with Better Menus, the standard layout for 2ed.

In Options the Chatlog does appear to change which format, but the Chatlog access button/menu option is not there.

Thank you for the extension. I tried your your extension with the current version of starfinder and the Test Server version and the Chatlog window isn't displaying correctly in Starfinder. The background of the Chatlog window is transparent and the text is red making the log unreadable. I have attached a screenshot.

I see what you mean. Dealing with light/dark themes are a PITA :p

Let me see what I can do

I uploaded a version with more defined colors, should be easier to read.

Hi @mattekure,
have you planned to make the chat text available for a copy and paste?

Just curious, this works for Core, but not Pathfinder 1st edition?
[WARNING] buttoncontrol: Could not find normal icon (button_refresh) in control (button_refresh) in class (ChatlogExplorer)

Also stopped working for 5e. No errors or warnings but can't select dropdown menu anymore.

I wanted to proudly display the chatlog viewer for my players - as I have one player who has repeatedly wished that FGU had that feature. As it turns out, I can see it as the Campaign GM, but when I log in as a player to my own campaign, the player menu doesn't show it. Will continue to investigate in case it is a "duh Hal, you should know better".

I have not used in a long time but I think you can drag the individual chat log you create to the chat box to share like other stories?

No, you are correct. Chatlog viewer is GM only. The super technical reason is that the chatlog is stored on the GMs machine, not the players, so they dont have easy access to it. It would take a bunch of extra work to make it available to players which didnt seem worth it. I'll see about making an "export to Story" capability, then you can share the story entry with the players.

If you do end up doing that - thank you Mattekure. I don't want to volunteer your copious spare time (ironic tone alert here - because I know we all have busy lives, and doing something like that does take time out of your life).

My problem is - the one player I have online from Texas (I'm in New York) keeps bemoaning the lack of player based logs that they can view. So I called him up today saying "I have a new toy to share with you, a chat view log feature". When he got online, he said "I don't see it" and then I joined my own campaign as a user and confirmed it.

If you have the ability to do this - and the inclination, ideally, for an export to notes section or story section - we'd have to be able to pare down on the "whispers" - where the gm shares private information that really should NOT be visible. If that is possible, thank you. If you do it, because I asked, THANK YOU for your kindness.

Hal

Totally a work around, but you could send a copy of the chat log to the player and they could copy into their own campaign a and then use this extension. (Or just view the log bare in a browser.)

Yes, this.

chatlog.html is in your campaign folder for each campaign under AppData\Roaming\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds\campaigns in your user home folder (on windows Appdata is normally a hidden folder so you may need to change your view settings).

You can also open the Fantasy Grounds user folder directly in File Explorer by clicking the folder icon top-left in the FG launcher

That would be great!
Even ability to 'Select all' and copy to clipboard for a log entry would be nice. At present text selection is only one line at a time. (I can do screen clip as a graphic, but would prefer text)
