View Full Version : Ruins of Symbaroum 5e console errors and other bugs

I posted this to a previous thread, but thought it might need a new thread

I've just added Ruins of Symbaroum and have discovered a few more console errors in the RoS - Player's Guide, specifically:

[ERROR] Script execution error: [string "CoreRPG:scripts/manager_list.lua"]:294: attempt to index global 'w' (a nil value)

when I open the "Items - Gear" tab or the "Spells - by Level" tab.
I've also noticed that the Goblin origin doesn't change the base movement speed (to 20).

Thanks

Do you have any extensions loaded (including themes)? Do you get the same error without extensions?

No, I don't have any extensions. Just the 3 core RoS modules. In fact it happens with just the RoS players handbook loaded

What is the version of the 5e ruleset and the CoreRPG ruleset as stated in the chat when you load your campaign.

One other thing to try. Go into your vault folder (click the folder icon top left of the start screen to find your data folder) and delete the file FLFSYM018.dat and then update Fantasy Grounds and then see if the error is still there.

Hi Brian!

I don't have this product, but it looks like there's a Symbaroum setting extension that needs loading - based off the product screenshots it might be called something like "Symbaroum 5E Setting".

It says it's Dungeons & Dragons (5E) ruleset (2022-11-15)

I'll try update it again

Hi Trenloe, good to see you. Told you I'd be back. I didn't try that because I thought it was the Symbaroum setting rather than the Ruins of Symbaroum (which is the 5E version of the game). I'll try that if the above doesn't work

Good to see you too! I never doubted it. :D

I tried deleting that file and updating it and the error is unchanged

Sounds like Trenloe has the answer.

@trenloe considering that extension predates the 5e release, I doubt it is the 5e version

The base 5E ruleset doesn't have a "Gear" button in the items list, nor does it have a "By Level" option in the Spells data list. These are changes to the 5E ruleset - which can only be made with extensions, and the screenshots show these changes too.

The screenshots in the product page (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=FLFSYM018) show two extensions being loaded: "Symbaroum 5E Setting" and "Symbaroum 5E Theme".

Please look through the extensions list when on the Load Campaign screen for something like "Symbaroum 5E Setting" - it may have "Feature" or "Setting" in front of the name.

So it's not the base 5e ruleset that's the problem, it's the Ruins of Symbaroum Player's Guide that has "Gear" and "by Level" buttons. I'll try take a screen shot.

I did a full search for everything with "Symbaroum" and nothing showed up. Considering it's a 5e compatible module on the store, should it come with an extension or at least not need one?

It should - but I'm wondering if it needs the GM's Guide: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=FLFSYM019 None mention use of an extension, nor does that the Player's Guide mention need of the GM's Guide, but that might be an oversight.

I have tried with and without the RoS GM's Guide, no difference.

And the extension is available in just the player's guide product:

Look at "Extensions" not modules. See my post above this one.

Oh dear, I have been out of this game a while lol. I didn't see that. Sorry for wasting your time. I'll test it now

Okay, I created a new campaign with the extension active. Still the same error

Please show exactly where the error occurs.

And, are you sure you have the "Setting: Symbaroum 5e" extension enabled, not the Theme?

bennis1980

I had the theme. that was confusing. I'm showing my age . It fixed the console errors. Thanks for your help

Still have the issue with Goblin race / origin having 30 speed (instead of 20 which it should have). Is there a way of manually setting the speed?

Once you've created your character, click the magnifying glass icon to the left of the AC value in the middle of the main tab. This will open the combat calculations window where you can manually change the speed.

Perfect thanks. I had edited it in Notepad++ (remembered a lot of work I did for Dakadin for RMU spell lists). I see you have not stopped being an absolute gentleman and scholar! Thank you sir

I've discovered more broken things. The corruption threshold (a major part of this new system) is not calculating correctly. It also cannot be edited directly. Is there any way of contacting the person who updates this module / extension? I'd like to help if I can

Could you start a new thread with specific issues and I'll see that the developers get alerted. Thanks.

Also here would be a good place alternatively. https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?76223-5e-Bug-Reports-(2023)
