Ok, I just bought the Fantasy Grounds Ultimate License on Steam. So it looks like I have to wait 4 weeks at best and I *might* be able to use the content I just bought. If I buy other content from Steam, will I always have to wait 8 weeks to get access to my content? Or is this a one time issue? I put a cancel on Steam and I *HOPE* I get all my money back. Guys, you have to tell people when they buy FG on Steam its going to be up to 8 weeks to get their content. It appears you folks have been going with this process for at least 5 years from looking at threads. Please fix this. If you lack the integration skills to work with Steam, get it at least to a schedule, like Every Monday for instance, something people can rely on.
If I'm mistaken on your process please let me know and I'll rebuy. I mean if the code only applies once, maybe its ok. But requiring everyone to use PayPal, which frankly they have a lot of baggage, add other options.

Why do you have to wait 4 weeks? I've never heard of that before, people usually have their licenses or DLC within minutes.. Have you reached out to Steam Support to find out why?
Note, you probably want to submit a FG Support ticket from the Support link. This is just the user forum and hence you will usually only get feedback from users.

I've canceled my Steam order and bought here. When I went to activate on Steam, the code wasn't accepted. I looked at the threads talking about outside of steam taking 4-8 weeks, and it looks like that is what I got in Steam. Got me, but it wouldn't take my code.

The 4-8 weeks is if you bought the FG license on the FG website, and then wanted to register it in Steam. Those keys get sent to Steam every so often, so the 4-8 weeks that you were seeing.
Just buying from Steam would not have that issue though. I'll admit, I've not purchased from Steam, but my understanding is that once you purchase it, you can get the Key via the Steam client, like checking your library for FG and getting it there, but I do not know the exact steps.

It's working fine here. The process path shown to the customer isn't obvious. I bought on Steam, and Steam gave me two codes. I installed the software and opened it up and put in the UNITY key. When I opened up the Unity software, I didn't have any of the other books I bought available as a module and I looked all over. I then searched the web on how to use the ultimate key. You have two threads, one for Classic and the other for Ultimate talking about 4-8 weeks to get authorization. I went to Steam library and entered in the Ultimate Key in Steam and it wouldn't take it. The work flow isn't good. I suggest you take a secretary at your office who doesn't play fantasy grounds, have her make a purchase and see if she can get to the interface with all the books installed. I bought the bundled Unity and Fantasy Grounds Ultimate License + Wildemont if that helps.
From what I googled, I thought Steam purchases takes 4-8 weeks from the two threads on Steam (one Classic, other Unity). My two cents, with the recent emigration from D&D Beyond, I suggest putting a 2 minute sign up video on Steam for the pur to avoid the cancellations and tech support requests.

You have to sync your Fantasy Grounds and Smiteworks accounts in order to download and install DLC if you bought DLC from Steam. See here https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996639425/Linking+with+External+Services+and+Applications
You don't download or install anything from Steam itself - it all comes from Smiteworks. If you buy a license directly from Smiteworks then you can register the license with Steam but as noted above it can take some time depending on the cycle of when licenses keys are sent to Steam (this is the 4-6 weeks that you are seeing), and until then Steam won't recognise the purchase.
If you buy the license from Steam then you can immediately install FGU but using the key supplied via email. I'm not exactly sure what it was that you did from your description but there would be no need for you to activate the license on Steam since you bought from Steam. You only need to activate a product if you bought from Smiteworks.

NO, you misunderstood the messaging. If you buy on Steam, you gain instant access to the license key and any DLC you buy. You do have to go through the full set up to sync your Steam account to an FG account. I think what you are confusing is that if you don't buy it on Steam and buy it from us directly, then you have chosen a different storefront. Our storefront and Steam don't automatically grant you "ownership" on Steam when you buy a license outside of Steam. Those are sent over to Steam manually every 4-8 weeks. You should just buy it on Steam if you want it on Steam and you want instant access.
