View Full Version : Dungeon of the Mad Mage module missing walls definitions / LoS functionality.

Hello,

I'm not sure how to fix this, but my DotMM module is missing all the definitions for walls / doors / etc. Is there some way to force a download on a missing part of the module? I had done a previous campaign and they were there, but now I have no walls definitions when I create a new one.

The DD Dungeon of the Mad Mage.xml file in /moduledb is only 1kb which is probably not right. The old campaign it was 400kb or so. I can't just copy it in because of all the changes I had made during the old campaign. Not sure what to do on this one, but I sure need those walls definitions.

EDIT: I should mention I forced a reinstall through the settings on the FGU launcher but no dice.

I did find this link (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?50591-FGU-Sharing-LOS-Definitions-for-Maps-Crowd-Project&p=450403&viewfull=1#post450403) which has some LoS definitions.

But I'm a bit confused because the product page clearly shows a LoS icon under the product name (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=WOTC5EDOTMM). What exactly does that mean if there are no walls / LoS definitions included? (Is that what is happening?) Thanks for any help.

I'm not seeing that. I checked a handful of players maps and they all have LOS on them. Which map exactly are you looking at and not seeing LOS for?
(Note, DM maps do not have LOS, because they are not intended to be shared with the players, hence why there are separate Player maps, which do have LOS>)

Yeah I thought something was weird. It's every map in DotMM. None of them have any walls or LoS. in the module on the story area these are called Battle Maps, but they are the same maps as the player maps in Images-> Maps.

I also tried to reset everything but my vault, but no luck. I've started new campaigns as well but same issue. I did find the LoS file in that thread, but it's still odd.

Not sure if related but I bought the module when I was on subscription and then moved to a permanent license. Not sure how that could interfere here but that's the only thing I can think of that might be related.

Out of curiosity, in your moduledb folder, how big is your DD Dungeon of the Mad Mage.xml file?

Also I noticed that the .xml file doesn't exist at all and isn't created until I open one of the player maps. Same with the moduledb folder.

Don't use those LOS modules from that thread. They have already been incorporated into the module. In your new campaign, can you open "Level-10-Players" map and turn on the LOS walls like in this image?

I accidentally hid the arrows that pointed to the missing brick graphic that denotes wall data, but that's where the data is missing.

Try this:
Exit FG. Open your FG Data Folder. Check and see if you have anything in the modules folder that might be DoMM by any name. Then go into your vault folder and delete the "WOTC5EDOTMM.dat" file. Run and update and try again. Revert changes on the DoMM module as well.

No luck, except for revert changes. I'm not sure what that means. I did make a new campaign with only that mod and no extensions enabled, but no luck.

I'm pretty much at a loss. Maybe someone else will stop by in the next half day or so with other ideas. If not, there are so tedious things we can try via Discord screen share, but it should be something simpler than that.

Is there some way to just download the .xml file? Seems like it would solve a lot or problems...

You have incorrect files in those folders. Try deleting your modules/extensions/vault folders within the FG data folder, and running a new Check for Updates. It will rebuild all your folders with the official content from the store.

What do you mean by incorrect? They all have the .mod extension, and none are loaded other than DotMM.

Is there some kind of command or utility to see conflicts? If I rename .mod to .zip and look into it, I don't see the file in there either. So it must be generated somehow, is there a way to force that?

Those files were never available as .mod files; which means that you got them from "unofficial sources". They have only ever been available through the vault. We do not provide any support for modules from "unofficial sources", as they are probably pirated.

The thing is that you have the DOTMM product in your account; so if you follow my directions from a few posts up, then everything should be working fine. (as it will be using the latest version of the product from the patch system)

I do have some files from the days of classic, which must have used it in .mod format. Then I rebought it when FGU came out on 2020-09-15, as you can see. Lots of mods from the classic era always worked but I guess not anymore. To be expected I suppose.

The offending file was the DotMM.mod itself which I bought on 2020-09-15. Removing it did work, no doubt about it and it did not get replaced when updating, so it's built in now.

None of those files were ever released as .mod they were always in the vault.
