If I buy the 5E players handbook and Monster manual can I use the tokens in there for my home brew 4E game?

5e books won't appear in the module list in a 4e campaign so your issue is that the tokens won't appear in assets/tokens. It might work if you use this extension https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?41034-Universal-Module-Extension but I haven't tested that.
