View Full Version : Grave Domain missing from Xanathar's players' content? (5e)

I've got a player with a Grave Domain cleric. I did the initial character setup so we didn't notice this earlier, but she's having a hard time levelling up because apparently the Grave Domain isn't in the players' content. I've tested this out myself with a clone of the campaign.
We're fully up to date as of this afternoon, running D&D 5e ruleset 2022-11-15 and Core RPG Ruleset 2022-11-15.
How to replicate:
Have a Grave Domain cleric that is ready to level up
Check the Modules activations to confirm that the `D&D Xanathar's Guide to Everything - Players` module is loaded
Click on the `Lvl Up` button in the Class & Level dialogue for the character
At this point FG reports the error:
Unable to import. Unable to open class specialization record(s) not loaded.
'Grave Domain' - (DD Xanathar's Guide to Everything
Is there a known fix for this, or a workaround anyone can suggest? I suppose can do the levelling up at her direction for now if it comes to that.

I would have the player rebuild the cleric. You see the "DD Xanther's Guide" with the DD? I think they changed the name from DD to D&D or something, which changed the module pathing for the character abilities - I don't remember the exact details but it looks like the cleric was build with the older module's pathing so rebuilding with with the latest updated module would fix it but that old character will always have the problem if you don't re-build it since it expects the old module path.
I did just build a grave cleric with drag and drop and it seemed to work fine.
Edit: Alternatively, the player may not have the Xanther's module open, but you likely checked for that?

I'm not having any problems as the host, with only the PHB and Xanathar's Players loaded. Perhaps the player needs to Revert Changes on their Xanathar's Players Module?

I can’t remember this module ever changing name but the two posts above are correct. The module name is DD and not D&D. You could search the db.xml of the campaign and replace the D&D with DD if you are confident enough. If not then post the db.xml for the campaign here and we can change it for you.
Or as suggested rebuild the character.

Make sure that the person leveling up had the books loaded and available before initializing the Character Wizard if this is applicable. The Character Wizard will not pull in the content if the books were active AFTER the level up is initiated. I don't know if this was your particular issue or experience. Best of luck.

it's the other way around. The module we have, and the error reported, is for `DD Xanathar's Guide to Everything`. The others were suggesting this is wrong and that it should be D&D.. but it isn't, apparently. Thanks for the reply.

Finally had time to get back to this and have a closer look today ... it seems this isn't exactly the problem, since the module file is still named 'DD Xanathar's Guide to Everything.xml'. This makes sense, since putting an ampersand in a file name is asking for trouble. It's possible they altered something else to do with the module linkages though, so I guess we'll go with trying to rebuild the character.
Thanks for the reply!

I'm still not exactly sure what broke this, but rebuilding the character seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the replies everyone!
