Maybe ... I'm not sure. So as I understand it, in DCC, when the Judge determines advantage/disadvantage in an attack, the attacker rolls on a greater/lower die. Do I have it so far? If so how is this done for a player character?

That's the basic idea. Some of the adjustments are automated - if it's based on a condition/effect listed in Table 4-1 on page 78 of the printed rulebook, then adding that effect to the combat tracker will apply the die adjustment. For example, the effect 'Entangled' gives an automatic +1d to attack rolls against that creature. You can adjust any roll manually by clicking the desired dice swap button in the bottom left of the desktop between the modifier box and the dice (see screenshot).
