I copied the cleric class and just added sublcasses to it using the proper tutorials and things like filling out the subclass pre-requisite and when I try to make a character with the copied class (I changed the name to Cleric U) I can't add to the character's inventory unless I use the buy system and when I do the spells it says 0/0 cantrips and 0/0 spells when the spellcasting feature remains unchanged from the normal cleric class. But when I make the character again with the original cleric class it works.

Spells are listed as being usable by particular classes. If you want to create a new class then you'll also want to create a new spell list for that class. See video thirty five here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?55797-How-do-I-in-Unity
The character wizard (you don't say you are using the CW but I assume you are), won't handle homebrewed stuff very well because it looks for names. When you select Cleric it will look for Cleric spells. If you change the name it won't find that name and so won't find any spells. Even if you create your own spell list it's unlikely that the current version of the CW will work as you might expect. SO for homebrewed stuff I'd suggest you use drag and drop.

Thank you, I knew it had to be something small like that but there was too much to look through
