I'm importing data for a system that isn't on FGU Store from a PDF I have purchased. I wanted to see if there are any tips or best practices on doing this. Specially working with word wrapping.

My primary issue making this a long process is the example below.

I'm copying this feat text for Harpooner

If I select and copy, then paste the text directly into FGU. It requires deleted the wrap on each line, even if I paste it to a word doc first.

Is there a better method on copying over information like this from a PDF? I don't mind doing it manually where I input each feat/class/item/etc and bolding or titling areas. But having to practically click each line, delete the page break is a lot of extra work.

Use CTRL+J to join lines into one paragraph - highlight all of the lines you want to join and press CTRL+J

Information on the other CTRL shortcut keys for formatted text can be found in the FG Wiki here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996640055/Basic+Actions#Formatted-Text-Fields

Other users do something similar, but format the text in a text editor (for example, Notepad++ also supports CTRL+J) before copying into FG.

You can also paste in your text and right click on the page and select the text clean up tool; it does a pretty good job of cleaning up the text

Yes, Zacchaeus' tip is the best thing to try. It automatically joins each line, replaces some troublesome characters with standard ASCII characters, and does a fairly good job of keeping paragraphs and line-breaks intact that are meant to be.

Thank again for the tips fellas, one more question when importing tables (with in text not a tables). Is there a good method for doing this? When I do google it, I find most of the guides are on the importing roll tables.

So Wanting to know if I can easily import a table like this

To fit into a text table

I tend to CTRL-J the paragraphs first, then use the clean-up tool after, because it doesn't always catch the paragraphs correctly.

There used to be 2 extensions, one for story tables and one for rollable tables. I think one is now built into FG and the other is on the Forge; https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/34/view
I can't find info on the other one at the moment :(

Something that may be helpful are the list of shortcut commands found here: Basic Actions - Fantasy Grounds Customer Portal - Confluence (atlassian.net) (https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996640055/Basic+Actions#Formatted-Text-Fields)

Awesome, perfect timing! Using that markup guide in notepad++ will be a good tool. I can get a format setup and that will save a lot of time.
