I replaced my old 480SSD which is still fine (damn it's from 2014, SanDisk Extreme III, like 92% health!! more than my much newer Samsung 1TB in same system) with a new Samsung 2TB (sata which hurts cos 980 m2 was same price... but until I upgrade mb/chp etc next holidays...) and the failing WDBlack4TB with a new WDBlack10TB (copied all my useful data to my 6TB WDBlack and 1TB SSD until finish reos)
So, I am wondering is it even worth installing program files portion to SSD or, as I think, leave it in D (non-SSD) since it is only for app startup I think.
The data, I might like on SSD but thinking to try to keep it slim and for my most disk intensive games plus all the crap Windows uses/wastes on it that I found when I had so little on the 480gb and yet was constantly pushing space edge.
Regardless where I install the AppData/Fantasy Grounds portion - do I have to use the path they list? I was preferring to install it like under D:\Games\Smite Works\Fantasy Grounds etc thing. So it is less "deep" and obscure.
That said, maybe it's in this whole appdata and roaming path thing for a reason? I meant I get if it's the MS recommended thing and devs will code it for that - that's the right thing to do - but if there is no practical reason other than conformity to make things easier - then I'd rather go more top-level and put FG in same path with my other games. Easier to remember and review.
Thanks all!
[EDIT] PS - now that I looked int he backup dir of "f:\drive_d" I see I originally last time anyhow, put the appdata in a custom spot too - "DRIVE:\Users\Dan\AppData\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds" so I guess I could put it in \Games\... as well.. I cannot imagine multiple people ever running on my PC so the advantage of user/appdata dir doesnt do anything for me.
That said, if I want to test my DM modules, what's the best way to run another instance? This might well decide it and show me why/where to put it?
I have the Ultimate License and can run demo one (or full if same hose, I think allowed?) but do I install it again in a diff directory or run with diff appdata (doubt that's an option)
Sorry... this is really at least 2 questiosn in one post... they ARE related though :)
