View Full Version : Potential targeting issue?

Greetings,

[Please also see attachment]

Multiple times a PC is next to a NPC Foe (within 5'):, targets the foe, the targeting footage indicator is green, the target is identified in CT. PC hits target but the hit does not identify foe in Chat. PC rolls damage but the target, recipient of the damage is not identified in Chat nor is the DMG reflected in CT.

The attachment may make this situation clearer ==> 55046

Thank you in advance.

All the best,

Some more info for troubleshooting and some ideas to try:
What ruleset?
Notice how the chat log does not indicate that a roll had a target? That indicates something is wrong. This is usually due to an extension, but some other ideas as well.
Can you duplicate in a new campaign with all extensions disabled?
How were the tokens added to the map? From the combat tracker?
How were the PC and NPCs added to the combat tracker?
Does it happen between any PC and any NPC?

Thank you for your prompt response. It turns out I had two identical characters in Character Selection with the same name. I put them both in game and one of them worked. One of two was in the combat tracker and perhaps somehow I switched them out (?)

Though I'm not sure how that happened since only one was listed on screen as a party member earlier when this happened. But the one that can show "Zombie" in dice roll and do DMG is now in play:

[Damage (M)] Greatsword [7] -> [to Zombie 3] [STATUS: Heavy] ==> By the way: the footage indicator on targeting is now black instead of green for the right PC token ==> 55047

I deleted the other one. I'm still confused by how this happened, but perhaps because I'm new to FGU (though I joined in 2020, work and projects kept me away from gaming until a couple of months ago).

Thanks again for your prompt response and assistance.

All the best,
