I'm having trouble editing NPC's.

The NPC become editable in the CT, but that's a bit unpractical. You want to be able to customize the NPC before you load it in the CT.

I've tried to:

a) Create a story, drag the NPC's to the story and then drag the NPC's to an Encounter. Then I tried to edit the NPC in the encounter by clicking the padlock symbol but it never unlocks.
B) Drag the NPC's directly to an Encounter. Then try an edit the NPC's. Doesn't work. Cannot unlock the padlock.

This has worked in the past. I created an encounter a month ago or so by using method A, and it worked.

I'm using a vanilla BRP campaign with the default modules.

I'm not sure how a) worked for you in the past, as dragging an NPC to a story entry purely creates a link to the base NPC, so it won't change the read-only state of that NPC.

You need to create a copy of the NPC in the NPCs list by drag/dropping the NPC within that list to create a new record that is editable.

Well, sorry for the trouble. I obviously totally forgot how to make NPC editable!

Thanks for the remainder!
