I’m a newbie and am currently mucking around with the free version, but I did purchase the Player’ s Handbook.

When I start a campaign, I currently have about six theme options to choose from—and they’re all pretty lame.

I saw a review of FG (not FGU) by a guy on YouTube, and he said he was using the “Wizard” theme, which I don’t see available. It looked pretty decent.

I also have “D&D” emblazoned in the middle of the screen, which I don’t really like (even though my primary purpose for FGU is 5E).

Any thoughts?

I do not know which theme it might, be, could it be the Wizard's Desk theme (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=SWKTHEME_WIZARDSDESK)?

For the 'D&D' in the center of the screen; that is a Decal. You can set pretty much any image as a Decal. See Video 27 here (https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1056145596/How+Do+I+In+Fantasy+Grounds+Unity+by+Zacchaeus#Vid eo-Twenty-Seven%3A-Decals).

There's a Wizard's Desk theme (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=SWKTHEME_WIZARDSDESK) that might be what they mentioned, but it's not free. . NOTE: According to the notes at that link, it "Requires: An active subscription or a one-time purchase of a Fantasy Grounds Full or Ultimate license and any ruleset. Compatible with Fantasy Grounds Unity or Fantasy Grounds Classic".

You may also want to check the Forge (https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/) for some available there.

Here’s the review on YouTube. (He talks for about 4 min before actually showing FGU.)

The leather looking theme/skin he's using is the default theme that shows if you do not select a specific theme/skin at the start screen. I think it's included with FGU by default.

It looks like Colville is rocking the "default" theme (which I like also) with the default Smiteworks Wyvern logo. So to get that in FGU just don't select *any* theme. And to get that decal, in the Tools section on the sideboard press "Options" then at the bottom press the "Background Decal" button which will load the "Select Decal" window. The theme you are looking for is: swk_decal.png

It's after all the dnd5 ones so if all you have is the 5E PH then it should be the last decal listed.

I highly recommend checking out Sir Motte's free theme on the forge here: https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/12/view
It is easily my favorite theme and it has a lot of compatibility built into it for many popular extensions.

The D&D bit in the middle isn't part of the theme; that's a decal. You can remove that by going to Options > Background Decals and click the clear button on the bottom left. You can also change the decal from the same window.

Note, only load one theme when you start your campaign, otherwise they are likely to clash and cause visual problems. And if at some point you wish to make your own theme, you can do that as well and their are resources on the forums that can help you with that.
