FG adventures and DMs Guild

Hi

Firstly I don't know if I am posting this in the right place or not. So apologies if not. I did ask my other half who uses this forum regularly, as he makes extensions, to do this for me but hey ho!, no surprise here I am making a post. I'm not bitter honest!

So I need a little bit of advice. I make maps, mostly for my own campaigns but I do have a Patreon site. However I have recently started making a full blown module with adventure, maps and images etc. I'd like to make it available to purchase but even after reading all the flumph and bumf around DMs Guild I'm still not sure of certain details. So here goes!

If I create a written PDF adventure with added zip files for my images and post it on DMs guild does that exclude me from making a fantasy grounds module for the same adventure and all that entails and posting it on the forge? If they are two different formats can I post them on both sites?

Me thinks I posted this in the wrong place. So ignore it please. I shall post it where I now think it should go. Knowing my luck that will be wrong too! Hey ho nevermind if I'll keep going like this eventually I'll find the right place.

I have done some further digging around and I think I have figured it out. I’ll post it here in case someone else has the same question.

It seems that even though they are two different formats (pdf and FG mod) it matters not for publishing on the DMs Guild because they contain the same IP. Therefore publishing on DMs Guild prohibits you from publishing elsewhere.

For me I think I’ll give DMs Guild a miss.

Correct, once something is published on the DMsG, you can not distribute it (in any format) anywhere else. The same does not hold true of publishing on the Forge, but of course, it needs to be FG content to publish there.

But do note, you can publish FG modules on the DMsGuild so you can have two items, one for each format, there.

You can publish on DrivethruRPG instead of DMsGuild and then you can continue to publish on other stores also.
