View Full Version : Any images that previously had edits (drawings, etc.) are now unable to load

Summary:
Just updated to 4.3, and loaded up my Curse of Strahd 5e campaign; all images that I had previously used (and thus had drawings, tokens, mask/line-of-sight information, etc.) are now unable to load. "Revert Changes" lets them load, but obviously this means losing everything I have drawn - not ideal!
(Couldn't see any threads reporting this exact issue judging by titles, but sorry if it's a duplicate).

Ruleset(s):
5e

Extensions/Themes:
I don't think these are causing it, but:
Curse of Strahd Theme
D&D Official Language Fonts
NPC Maker 5E
Various "Automatic Effects" extensions by Kent Mcullough

Modules Loaded:
Curse of Strahd
Curse of Strahd - Players

PHB
DMG
DMG - Players
MM

SCAG
XGtE
TCoE
TCoE - Players
FToD
FToD - Players
VRGtR
VRGtR - Players
MotM
MotM - Players

Operating System / Language Setting:
Win10, en-GB

Steps to Reproduce:
Have campaign from previous version
Update to 4.3.0
Try to use images that have previously been shared, gridded, drawn on, masked, etc.
Image load fails, image window opens but image is black background, with big red "?" placeholder. Pins do show up. See attached

Logs attached.

EDIT: Had previously stated that I had upgraded from a much older version, but now I see that was just the updater version.

If you upload your campaign folder (or the CoS moduledb file from campaign folder), I can manually do an update for you.

The CoS module Had to be updated to use the latest creation tools in order to provide maintenance going forward, which affected file locations a bit.

It can be fixed with a find/replace on the CoS change file for the campaign.

Thanks, that would be awesome! See attached

Edit: I may actually have sorted it myself - is it just prepending "images/" to the front of each <bitmap> reference in the image layers? Or are there other changes that might have been made too? Images is the only thing I can think of that references file paths, right?

Yeah, that's the only change really. I've uploaded an updated version, just in case.

I'm sorry, I'm also having this problem with my Curse of Strahd campaign (I'm running it for two different groups on different nights).

I'm also not at all tech savvy. I've just been replacing the images that don't load with googled ones or images from Patreon (Shout-out to DM Andy!), but I don't know how else to fix it.

What should I do?

Post the db.xml file from the campaign folder with your campaign name on it. And we can fix it for you.

If you have not made changes to the images and they are not in use, you can right click Revert on each image (or on the whole module) to get the updates. But you will lose changes you made to the items you revert. Or post the db.xml like Mr Z says and it will be fixed for you.
