I am getting an error when trying to start FGU with this:

Failed to load PlayerSettings (internal index #0).
Most likely data file is corrupted, or built with mismatching
editor and platform support versions.

I had just bought the dice packs and a module and hit the update button; now FGU will not even open (never even got it reopened to get into a campaign).

Anyone else having this issue?

Make sure that your antivirus hasn't quarantined FGU. Some advice on creating exceptions in your AV here https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1303052290/Whitelisting+or+Creating+Exceptions+for+Antivirus+ Applications

I added in those exclusions but nothing had been quarantined.

I have been running this way for a long time with no issue and this just came up today. The dates are many of the files in the FGU directory are from 6/8/2022 or earlier with the exception of FantasyGroundsUpdater.log being from today.

I can run the updater and it seems to go fine; but the if I try to Launch even from the updater one I get that same error.

Can you try re-installing FGU. Sounds like a file is missing somewhere. If it were in a campaign then I'd suggest that you revert to an earlier save but if you can't get FGU to load then something is amiss with the installation.

What is the file size and date for FantasyGrounds.exe in your C:\Program Files\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds folder?

You might try deleting it and manually running the FantasyGroundsUpdater.exe from that same folder.

Also, did you install to the default application folder, or somewhere else? (C:\Program Files\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds\)

If you delete FantasyGrounds.exe; you should also delete "FantasyGrounds_Data" folder, "MonoBleedingEdge" folder, UnityCrashHandler64.exe, and UnityPlayer.dll.

I think Doug was trying to save you time on full uninstall/reinstall; but if you do it that way, you need to delete all the main app files.

I have the program installed in the default location but on the D: drive.

If I do delete those files and then reupdate; is there risk to my campaigns? Should I be copying my campaigns out (and like modules and extensions since I have many) to ensure I don't lose anything? I know those get put into a different directory section.

There should not be any risk to your campaigns (though it's never wrong to make a back up first if you have not done one recently). You are just deleting some program files so the updater will download them again - replacing any of them that may have become corrupt.

Check the settings in the updater for the location of your Data Folder. You can make a backup copy of this for safe keeping.

Your data folder and program folders should be separated into different folders.

getting rid of those files and then running the updater fixed it.

Great. Sorry for the trouble.
