View Full Version : New Dice Size

Is there any way to reduce the size of the new dice? I really like the feature, but they are distractingly large. I know that historically there was no way to change the dice size, but with the effort put into making changes to the dice, I am hopeful that this quality of life change has been implemented.

NO, there isn't a way to customise the dice size.

Could you though ? :D

I don't know; but it would probably take more resources to do so, than would be financially justifiable.

The new dice effects are barely visible on all their glory on the actual size. They were unreadable with the ancient size. If you think the dice are too large try using /scaleui 80 or 90, they will appear smaller and you will gain some work space.

I mean, I kind of understand what you're saying but surely it must have taken a lot of resources to make them bigger in the first place? Perhaps I'm being cynical but it feels like there are a lot of issues that really need fixing and yet the cosmetic fix that adds microtransactions seems to be the one getting the love.

I am still quite grumpy though that we had to cancel our session last night due to gamebreaking bugs introduced in the same patch so please take what Im saying with a pinch of salt.

Exactly. And then you also get treated like a little child. In the last posts I got snappy answers, like : It still works, what do you want? Pointer color is for pointers....
I really donīt like this new unfriendly approach.

If you want me to got to Foundry where eye candy dice are for free, just say it... :(

Yeah, sorry about the reply in Discord. I inadvertently pressed return before I added my second sentence.

We went back and forth on this a bit during the design. I requested adjustable dice sizes, but there were some complications that this created for us. In the end, we settled on a size that we thought felt like the best compromise. We are revisiting this now to see if we can overcome these complications. I can't promise anything on this currently since it was initially shot down by our development team.

How about an option to turn the fancy new dice stuff off and revert to the old dice and size? I think anything that eats further into the limited available screen real estate for FGU is generally viewed as a bad thing by a sizeable? amount of the user base.

Thank you for looking at this. Enjoying the new dice, just slightly bigger than what I am used to. I did adjust my UI scale a bit and that helped. Keep up the great work!

New dice size is perfect. Leave it alone.

I'm not suggesting it would be easy to do, but I think a "/scaledice n" command might be perfect.

Also, an option to show/hide each die individually would be great. I'd love to not have the d100 take up any screen space as we very rarely use it. I could imagine use cases for only having d20 show, or even hiding dice altogether as well.

Thank you for all you do!

Show/Hide die feels like a good option. Part of the reason the dice seem so much larger, I think, is that the d100 was added to the group as a separate die rather than a sub of the d10, making it spread out onto the workspace.

Heh! I hadn't even noticed that. Nice. I wonder when that changed. I was making a video using the test channel just a few days ago and the percentage dice was still on the d10 at that point.

I am not a fan of the new dice size either. If we can have options of sizes, that would be great indeed.

Love the new dice. Getting through my session on Tuesday was another matter. (Lots of Enable/Disable LOS, lots of reminding players not to resize the maps LOL)

This can be achieved with a simple extension. Here's one that will hide the d100 in any rule set:
54796

I will say I would like to be able to resize the dice.... to make them LARGE.

There are times I want to roll out the giant sized D20 with the huge clattering down the tabletop for that momentous to hit roll or save.

Release 4.3.1 states "Dice size can be adjusted between 80-120% of default size."

For anyone finding this thread, since I could not find this clearly referenced anywhere, the command is: /scaledice XXX where XXX represents a number between 80 and 120.

The scale is relative to your current UI Scale, from what I understand.

It's easier than that. See video forty five here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?55797-How-do-I-in-Unity
