View Full Version : Resizing an image turns the whole screen black

v4.3.0 ULTIMATE, Windows 10

This is an image which was last saved while unlocked (editable) on a previous version. It has LoS enabled and several LoS elements added. Lighting is disabled.

Dragging the border of the window of the image causes the whole game window to go black irrecoverably.

Locking the image to be non-editable has the same effect (immediately after clicking the lock button). Same with toggling the toolbar.

Re-launching and loading the image again after it has been locked does not change the situation.

While the screen is black, right click still works, but doesn't show anything other than the context menu. Return to launcher via the context menu still works.

Maximize / restore buttons work fine and do not trigger the issue. Nor does changing between image editing tabs.

Disabling extensions do not resolve the issue.

Re-importing the same image does not have the issue, but then as soon as I enable LoS, it does.

Seeing this issue with an online game.

Same, but instead of just black, I see a black background with a mask in red.

Please post screen shots. And if possible post the campaign file with steps to reproduce (i.e. open map xyz, do abc)

I opened an in-progress battle map by clicking on a token.

When I go to adjust the image size, all goes black but an image mask.

EDIT: using Windows 11.

Can you reproduce this in a new campaign without any extensions?

ScribblingRambler

Sure.
Here is the same map in a new campaign.

In this case, the entire screen goes black because there is no masking. It happens when I resize, or upon locking the image.
What do I need to upload from the campaign folder?
edit: I included the xml, let me know if anything else needed.

We need the whole campaign folder. Open your FGData folder and then campaigns. You'll find the campaign folder with your campaign name on it in there. zip it up and attach it here. If it's too big put in Dropbox or similar and post a link to it.

Thanks, the zip was the step I was missing.

Hmm, there's no image in that campaign so it must be from a module? I don't use the 3.5 ruleset so I don't have any DLC for it. But what module is the map from?

I am getting the same issue in Linux with v4.3.0 and SWADE ruleset.

Here is a dropbox link to a short video I made.

Just pushed a hot fix with a fix to some of the new lighting shaders from @cpinder. Can you please run a new Check For Updates, and try again?

Same problem here, FG window turn full black when I attempt to resize an image window (and only an image window, the character sheets and combat tracker works ok). If the image has some mask applied ,the image turns red.

I'm using the Pathfinder for savage worlds module.

I'm trying to replicate the problem (It only happens in some images). Some have walls without any problem, others are simply maps with a grid. I usually import jpg to my campaigns using the snipping tool in pdf's and never experienced this behavior before.

My players beforehand experienced an issue with their token visibility. I checked/unchecked the LOS and their tokens reapeared.

Sorry. Yes, I was using a map from Mummy's Mask Book 2.
I updated and still have the same issue.

So far, on my system there has not been an update, nothing downloading. So seems like the hotfix is still pending.

Others have gotten the update I pushed about 30 minutes ago. Have you tried just running a new Check for Updates?

The box turned red just after I posted that. Ran the uodate but no joy.

However I can right click and close the map and restore normality.

Off now for 2 days. Happy bug hunting!

Using the campaign in post #10 and opening the "Q - Sepulcher of the Servent 2 - PC" map and re-sizing that map window creates the issue - the whole app (not just the map window) goes black. I can right-click where the map is on the screen (guessing) and the radial menu comes up and I can close the map and then see the desktop again - but if I open the map and resize the same thing reoccurs.

Follow up to this - if I disable line of sight and then do a quick zoom (with the mouse scroll wheel) before resizing the troublesome map it works OK, but then if I re-enable LoS and resize the map window the issue occurs again.

Exact same issue here, LOS on resize map and whole screen turns black. Turn off LOS and resize without issue.

Yes, that was exactly my issue.
Fortunately, I was able to run my session without resizing tonight.
And I have opened some maps with LoS in other campaigns without the same issue. Though they were Pf2 ruleset instead.
Edit - Further experimenting with other maps and campaigns has not duplicated it. So I think it may be related to having a map with an existing mask or LoS mask.

That appears to have fixed the specific test issue I was using. Nice one! :)
