Player is able to "unlock" an unidentified item in his inventory and see the full description of the magic item thus defeating the purpose of having the item unidentifed! I am running 5E ruleset, new test campaign with no extensions loaded. Works for magic rings and weapons (I havent tested other items). Is this by design or a bug?

Thanks for reporting. I just pushed a hot fix. Please run a new Check for Updates, and try again.

I am impressed. That was a quick response and an even quicker fix. Thank you!

This issue appears to be back. My players are able to unlock and manipulate the properties of items. 5E rule set.

Can you post a zipped up copy of your campaign folder; and let us know which items were identifiable by players?
Thanks,

Honestly, it does not matter which campaign. Even using the Tutorial 5E campaign, all items are unlock-able and editable by players. Am I missing some sort of setting somewhere that changed with an update?
Update: Just checked, and its the same for the 3.5 rule-set.
Using v4.6.6. ultimate with 2025-02-20 update

I don't think the intent was to completely lock out anyone, the lock is simply a check to prevent accidental changes, not so much as a security function. However, items were usually locked out prior to adding the character sheet lock.
Is the item source from official content?
Are you using any core extensions?
Are you allowing anyone access to their own content, such as a GMs guide?
How are you testing out this theory or suspected access?

Yea, it doesn't seem to matter the source where the item it from.
Extensions or no extensions, it does not make a difference. Even loading a bare bones test module with noting added but core rules, its the same.
I could have sworn that items in inventory were locked down from editing their properties in the past, but if that isn't the intent, then I guess my concern is moot and I am just mis-remembering.
I must be getting old. (sigh)

I believe you are right. It doesn't sound right.

Items in the player inventory which are unidentified will only show the name and non id description even when unlocked in their inventory. All other items can be unlocked. The original post here was that unidentified items could be unlocked to see their full descriptions, and that doesn't seen to be your issue. As far as I can remember any identified items in a players inventory could always be unlocked and edited.

IMO it's important for players to be able to edit the items in their inventory. Often for making notes, keeping track of charges/uses etc.

I'm not seeing players being able to see/edit data they are not supposed to based on identification state.
Players have always been able to edit items in their inventory, except for the identification state. Based on the identification state, different fields are made available.
