Hello,
Extension in question:
https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/122/view
I think this extension will solve a problem for me, but I don't see any instructions on how to use it/apply it properly. I did search in the forums here, but I didn't find anything on it helpful.
I'm not a coder and effects coding is not intuitive for me. Has anyone used this and do you have any examples?
thank you.

Looks like you just click the button on the top of the Combat Tracker and you can then add in or edit damage types. You'll then need to edit any NPCs who use that damage type as well as add the damage type to any weapons that the PCs are using. So if you wanted to have a damage type of 'plasma' you would add it into the CT list, then edit any NPCs that use that type so that whatever attacks they had changed from say slashing to plasma; and add in some new weapons for the PCs to use that did plasma damage.

Thanks - I got the first bit, the add it to the drop down.
so sounds like - Add DMGTYPE: plasma to any weapons to be used
and if I want someone specifically weak to that type of damage, add VULN: plasma
does that sound right?

To be honest I don't know since I don't use the extension. I was thinking more of creating new weapons with the damage types you wanted for PCs and NPCs. I don't know if the extension covers the DMGTYPE effect or whether it also correctly deals with the vulnerabilities and resistances.
I believe Rob has a Discord somewhere and it's probably better to join that and ask questions since he and the authors of these extensions don't seem to inhabit the forums much.

When opening the window it's just a grey box.

I'm not sure Rob2e's extensions are supported anymore. Try the discord link above to see what the current status is.
Rob died a few years ago and though for awhile his extensions were being maintained by others, I'm not sure they are anymore. If you find out that it is not supported, you can request a refund from Technical Support w/in 30 days of purchase.

Is there a discord link that works? The most recent update stopped this from working, just need to see if there is someone updating this still?

This link is to one of the channels that is active. Not sure which sub-channel is the right one to ask on. https://discord.com/channels/248168089407979530/811376636481241129

Some of the extensions from Rob2e are still being supported, depending on the author. Rob was good at listing, advertising, and supporting the Team Twohy content. He left his legacy and the things he had done previously in the hands of the various extension authors. Mattekure posted a statement about this in another thread. He also stated that the previous team and such are slowly becoming independent. One of the challenges of creating content is how to list, track, and update your content, and the easist route is to post on the FG Forge, as opposed to the Store and the DM's Guild.

The Rob2e discord and the Fantasy Grounds Academy Community Discord have been much less active over the last couple of years progressively. Some of the authors might be a bit slower to relist and update.

Thank you for the quick response, I did in fact find another extension to use that allows me to create custom damage types.
