View Full Version : Newbie Question for FGU user interface regarding the sidebar Images listings

I am a new GM going through the learning curve of beginning to use the FGU system.

I have run into a quirk in the UI for sharing images that seems a bit odd.

As a GM, I am test sharing images with players who have joined a cloud based session. When shared an image automatically opens fine on their interface, however, if they close the image window and go to the 'Images' list on the sidebar and try the 'Shared' Filter by sharing mode option it does not list any images during current session when the 'All' or 'Uncategorized' group is selected. However, if they choose the 'All' filter mode and look in the 'Uncategorized' group listing the shared images are then listed. If they turn on the 'Shared' filter again the listing(s) do not show.

Now, if a player leaves the session and the returns (Rejoins Campaign) the 'Shared' filter works appropriately whether looking in the 'All' or 'Uncategorized' group listings.

The thing is, if a new image in the newly returned to session is shared by the GM and the player closes the image window and then looks in the Image sidebar listing the same issue occurs only for the newly shared image. All of the shared images from the prior session are listed with the 'Shared' filter active. With the 'All' filter active the newly shared image is present and easily found in the 'Uncategorized' group listing. It is also listed in the 'All' group but may not seem so if the list is very long.

This problem does not occur on the GM interface and everything is instant and dynamic for either the 'All' or 'Uncategorized' group.

Lastly, if I as a GM I create a new group in the Images group listing, does that not propagate to the players. They seem to have all of the other groups that we all start with but GM manually added ones do not appear in the player interface in the current session nor a rejoined to session.

I can reproduce the fact that images shared during a session don't show in the shared list if you click on the all button to go into shared mode. I don't know if that is by design or not.

Players don't have groups - unless those groups are in a module such as the PHB for example. All shared images go into uncategorised for players. Groups are not shared.

Okay.

I just thought it was a strange behavior on the image sharing and the 'Shared' filter with the listings.

The current workaround is to have players keep the 'All' filter on and use the 'Uncategorized' group as that group seems to populate with all of the shared items in the current session.

As mentioned, newly shared images also show in the 'All' group with the 'All' filter active, however, that list can be long and cumbersome for a player to quickly find the new item, especially if they didn't catch the name of the image properly before closing it.

As for the group categories, the more a read the more I realize that this is a GM side only option so thanks for the reaffirmation on that understanding.

So, one more question, is this the proper forum for developers t respond on a feature that seems a bit quirky and it's is intentionally designed to be that way or is there a more direct way to inform them once it seems that the feature is not working as it seems it should?

Yes, this is the correct forum and Zacchaeus is actually one of the.developers. He's the 5E guru. :)

Just a correction, I am not a developer of the software. I only develop modules.

But note he doesn't deny being a 5E guru... :)

I've queued a fix for the sharing filter issue in the next application client release. It's a very low level item that caused the issue. We don't currently have a public timeline for the next application client release yet, as I'm waiting on a couple projects to smooth out internally before we start the beta testing process.

Sounds great. Look forward to reading more about these projects/features that are upcoming.
